Hi, my name is Bhavika. I have been separated since March [redacted] and I am currently going through a divorce. I am seeking guidance on how to claim the mortgage interest I paid last year as ordered by the judge. We have two children, aged 7.6 years and 4 years. I am looking to file my tax return independently and claim one child. Filing my tax return this year will allow me to pursue a bachelor's degree in MLT. I attempted to use CTI for tax filing, but they only offer basic services. As a single mom in the middle of divorce proceedings, and having paid monthly mortgage payments for a condo last year, I am unable to afford an attorney to help with my case or tax return filing. I would appreciate any assistance as I aim to attend college and need to file my tax return for FAFSA purposes. Thank you.

I have not yet received my [redacted] tax return. My ex-husband claimed Head of Household falsely, labeling me as the absent parent in our tax filings. I have already corrected this with hand-written documents and letters sent to the IRS multiple times by mail and email. Despite my efforts, the IRS reduced my return from $7,[redacted] to $0, claiming they were unable to reach me at my former address. The stress caused by this situation led to us losing our home in Georgia and moving back to Maryland for family support. My ex, Nathan A., has been absent since [redacted], providing no assistance or contact with our children. Please reach out to help me resolve this issue promptly so I can receive the refund owed to my children and me. Thank you.

I recently sold my house in Maryland at the end of May [redacted]. I have been a non-resident of Maryland since July [redacted]. At closing, the title company had to withhold $[redacted].28 (7.5% of proceeds) according to Maryland state law, in case I owe income tax to Maryland for [redacted]. This withholding was documented on Form MW506NRS. Do I need to report this withheld amount on my federal [redacted] form? If yes, how do I enter it as Maryland state income tax withheld? Or will I get back some or all of this amount later? I appreciate any guidance on how to correctly handle this on my [redacted] federal tax return. Thank you. - R.H. Lee

I recently filed my taxes and selected an Intuit prepaid Visa card for my refund. Upon receiving and activating the card, I noticed the balance was $0. I am uncertain where my refund is and if it should have been automatically deposited onto the card. I am open to providing my direct deposit information if needed. Please reach out to assist me promptly. Thank you for your attention to this matter and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Have a great day.

I submitted my tax return electronically on February 6, [redacted], using TurboTax. My husband, Randy M. Hines, and I file jointly. I recently retired from the Sheriff's Office, which provides retirees with a $[redacted] health care stipend via direct deposit into my checking account. For this in [redacted], I received a [redacted]-MISC totaling $[redacted]. In my original filing, I mistakenly categorized this as business income, though it is not. I am not self-employed or a business owner. The IRS now believes I was self-employed in [redacted], requiring additional forms and a tax payment I do not owe. This has caused a delay in processing my return. I am seeking guidance on how to resolve this issue - whether I need to file again or can submit a correction. Your prompt assistance is appreciated. Kind regards, Jessica Hines.

I had a tax issue in [redacted] where I tried to set up a payment plan and didn't receive a response, so I ended up paying the full amount. Even got a letter from the IRS last year thanking me for the full payment and confirming no further payment was needed. Surprisingly in January [redacted], they started deducting $[redacted] from my account. Sent them a letter with the previous correspondence stating the debt was cleared, but they took another $[redacted] in February. Calling them is a waste of time as I wait on hold for hours with no response. Any help would be appreciated. Otherwise, I might have to visit them in person. Thank you. -Teresa F. I recently visited a local tax office to get an estimate for filing my taxes because I was unsure about including my mother, a full-time student with only $[redacted] of income last year due to illness. The tax preparer never informed me that he would be filing my taxes, and I did not give my permission to do so. When I tried to file myself after receiving all my W-2 forms, the preparer claimed the IRS wouldn't allow me to e-file because of my age (20). Upon checking my account online, I discovered that the address he used was incorrect. I am seeking assistance to prevent him from taking further actions without my consent. When I contacted the office, a worker mentioned a return date, which confused me as I hadn't authorized the filing. After that call, I have been unable to reach them. This situation is concerning, and I'm unsure of what steps to take next.

It has been a year since my spouse and I filed our [redacted] taxes on February 24, [redacted], anticipating a $2,[redacted] refund. However, we have not received anything yet. After a letter from the IRS in April [redacted], stating further investigation was needed for our wages, I sent them our necessary W2 forms from all our jobs via certified mail in November [redacted]. Since then, there has been no communication, and our refund is still outstanding. Each time I contact the IRS, they mention that our case is still pending and advise patience due to random selection for further investigation. It has now been a year, and as we approach filing our [redacted] taxes, we are still without the refund. I am unsure of the next steps to take or who else I can reach out to for assistance.

I used to work for a temporary service called MS Corporate in Seymour, Indiana, at Valeo. Unfortunately, I had to quit due to issues with wearing steel toe shoes. When I tried to reach out to MS Corporate in Seymour, Indiana, I discovered they had closed down. I called their number 1-[redacted] to request my W-2s for tax purposes. A lady told me they would be sent out, but I am still waiting for them. When I followed up, another lady said there was nothing they could do and provided me with a new contact, Amber. Despite leaving messages, I have not received any response. Considering the time that has passed, I believe I should have received the documents by now. Please contact me at [redacted]. My name is Ken.

I recently received a call from a Washington DC number [redacted], which I did not answer. A garbled voicemail message mentioned contacting a tax and crime number to avoid facing legal consequences for a federal offense associated with my name. I chose not to return the call, but I wanted to warn others who might receive a similar message. If needed, I can be reached at my home number [redacted]. I believe it's important to report such fraudulent activities to the appropriate authorities like the FCC. Thank you. - Teresa E.

I am frustrated with the IRS and the long delay in processing my tax refund. I submitted my taxes over a month ago and it's still being processed. This is extremely disappointing, and I can't understand why it's taking so long. Local support is unhelpful and there is no live assistance. I have spent countless hours trying to resolve this over the phone with no success. I submitted my taxes early but still haven't heard anything. It's unfair to wait this long after being a regular taxpayer. I urgently need the IRS to address and speed up the processing of my tax return.

Hello! I used TurboTax to e-file both my state and federal taxes. They were accepted on February 4, [redacted]. My Arizona state refund was deposited on February 10. However, when I checked the status of my federal return on February 19 using the 'IRS2Go' app, I saw that it was sent for direct deposit on February 13. I've verified the routing and account numbers are correct and checked with my bank, but I haven't received the refund yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have a question for the IRS regarding a [redacted]-C form I received from a credit card company, stating a cancellation of debt for my deceased husband. The form mentions a debt date in December [redacted], while my husband passed away in June [redacted]. I am unsure if this debt, whether it's from a loan or credit card, needs to be reported on my taxes. I was his wife at the time of his passing, and we have not filed joint tax returns since then. I would like clarification on how to proceed with this situation if it needs to be claimed. If necessary, should it be included in our [redacted] taxes for [redacted] or in my current year's taxes? I appreciate any guidance on the correct department at the IRS to address this matter. Thank you. - Mary

I filed my taxes on 1-28-[redacted] using TurboTax along with a friend who had similar credits like EIC and child tax credit. She checked on the 17th and found out she would get her refund on 2-22-[redacted]. However, my status just changed recently, indicating that it was processed. Both of us were told that refunds wouldn't start until Feb 15th to the 27th. Despite trying to contact the IRS through various methods, I haven't been able to speak to anyone. I'm a single mother of two children and I'm in urgent need of the money to pay my back rent. I'm unsure if there is a hold or an issue with my refund. Can someone please assist me?

As the HR Specialist for Lakeshore Recycling Systems in Chicago, IL, I recently reviewed our 2[redacted]-C & [redacted]'s and approved them as correct. After ADP submitted the files to the IRS, [redacted] errors were flagged, involving both employees and dependents. The specific error is "Invalid value: shared [redacted] covered individual name and SSN must match IRS database." It seems to be a mismatch between the names or SSNs in our files and the IRS database. I am looking for a report from the IRS to help identify and resolve these errors. I can be contacted at the email provided or at extension [redacted]. Thank you for your assistance in addressing this matter.

I am assisting my 24-year-old son with his tax filing. Last year, he earned $[redacted]. In [redacted], I claimed him as a dependent due to his age and status as a full-time college student. However, as he turned 24 in [redacted], I can no longer claim him. He was covered under my Marketplace health insurance in [redacted], though he had separate healthcare coverage. On my [redacted]-A form, he is listed as a covered individual, and I received a monthly payment of $[redacted].67 for his premium tax credit. Should this be included on his tax return or mine? As I only received one [redacted]-A form in my name, it's causing confusion when using Tax Act for his taxes. Can you advise on how to handle this situation?

I recently discovered that someone has been fraudulently using my Social Security Number for the past five years, claiming money under false categories. I have taken steps to report this to the Social Security Administration, IRS, and FTC. I suspect the individual could be the executor of a trust set up by my father. Since the executor's passing, my family and I have decided to hire an attorney to investigate the discrepancies in the trust's accounting. I am requesting documentation of my previous contacts with your agencies and any information related to the identity theft. I am considering reaching out to the FTC again for further details. Due to my disability and fixed income, the trust disbursements are vital, and I am keen to expedite the investigation. The successor trustee is requesting a release of liability, which I am hesitant to sign. I am available to meet in person promptly. Time is of the essence in this matter.

I filed and was accepted on January 24th. Recently, I moved cross country with my children and am currently out of money, anticipating my refund. Despite being told I would receive my refund today, it has not arrived. In past years, I have always received it promptly. I am frustrated as others who filed after me have already received their refunds, including those with earned income, child income, and head of household status. H&R Block advised contacting you if I did not receive my refund today. I urgently need this resolved as I am running low on groceries and won't get paid from my job for another week. With bills past due and facing potential losses, I cannot afford more delays due to the shutdown and the February 15th law. Please address this matter promptly. Thank you. - S. Bonite

I received a letter in the mail regarding a tax lien of just over $[redacted]. I have been unable to work full-time since March [redacted] due to an auto accident that resulted in a shoulder injury requiring surgery. Despite returning to work with restrictions, my back condition worsened, leading to further surgery. I haven't been able to work since April [redacted], awaiting another surgery through worker's compensation. I am financially constrained and can only afford around $[redacted]-$[redacted]. Moreover, I recently received a letter mentioning a lawsuit against TurboTax for unauthorized use of my SSN between 2[redacted].

I, Imani Webster, filed my taxes on January 17th. I received a notice requesting an identity quiz as someone filed as single which was not me. I took all necessary steps to secure my return this year. I faxed and mailed my identity theft affidavit, W2s, and the first two pages of my paper return. When contacting the Ohio Department of Taxation, I was informed they can only disclose limited information. Although my state refund was approved, I am uncertain about my federal return status. Attempts to track it on IRS.gov have been unsuccessful. I am interested in obtaining a copy of the false filed return to clarify the situation.
