If you are looking to apply for a payment arrangement be sure to pay attention to the payment extension dates and deadlines. If you are willing to wait on hold then you should call into the IRS and they will work with you one on one to set up a payment arrangement that fits your needs. You can call customer support at the IRS using 800-829-1040. Once you call press 1 for English then wait for the recording to end. Press 2 then 1 then 3 then 2. The recording will then ask for your social security number you can just press 0# it will ask again then press 0# and finally press 2 once it asks you a question. You will be told your wait time and a representative will pick up to help you.

On Dec **. ****, I made an online payment of $**.** to IRS for payment of owed taxes for ****.. The payment was intended for IL Dept of State. All taxes owed to IRS from me have already been paid in full. Please refund me this payment that I made send it to the State. I am in a hardship situation and this $**.** is difficult to pay monthly along with penalty fees. The penalty fees I don't understand as I'm faithfully paying the owed debt* however that dilemma is for another time. I phoned ***-***-**** and spoke with a live agent. I gave my SS* , answered the questions she asked, gave the information required and the matter was taken care of.
