My wife and I are dual citizens and retirees residing in Arizona since [redacted]. A substantial portion of our retirement funds are from Canada, originating from the RRSP plan and pensions earned in Canada pre-[redacted]. I receive tax documents from the Canadian government detailing our income from the RRSP account and the corresponding deductions. I would like to know if I can convert these funds into US dollars at my Canadian bank and then transfer them to our Arizona bank to be treated as US income for tax purposes. Additionally, I receive Canadian pensions that I also wish to convert and pay US taxes on. I currently complete this process twice a month, transferring funds from Canada to the US. The fluctuation in exchange rates resulted in a $[redacted].00 difference in income for [redacted]. I have documentation to support these transactions, including bank statements. I would appreciate any guidance on this matter. Thank you. R. Shantz

For over a decade, my mother has been using my social security number without my consent. She has opened credit card accounts where I am listed as the primary account holder and she is an authorized user. Despite my efforts to report these fraudulent activities to various companies and the police, the situation persists. This identity theft has caused issues with accessing my medical records and applying for financial aid, as my mother's actions have tainted my name. I have never lived with her; I was raised by my grandmother. I am struggling to prove my identity due to this deception. I have subscribed to a service like LifeLock and intend to seek legal assistance. Any guidance on restoring my credit or obtaining a new social security number would be greatly appreciated, as I aspire to pursue higher education.

I am inquiring about the tax implications for my Life Insurance Policy payout to my fiancé in case of my passing. Additionally, I have been medically discharged from Student Loans exceeding $[redacted],[redacted]. My concern is the tax status of the discharged loan since it is labeled as all income, despite the fact that most funds were used for college tuition. I possess records of tuition payments and refunds from the university. I seek clarification on the taxable portion of the discharged loan and the reasoning behind it, along with legal references. I intend to contact my Senator and Congressional Representative for potential legislation changes based on the provided information.

I am dealing with an IRS lien affecting my social security check. Following my husband's passing, I don't receive his social security benefits. I am seeking a copy of the lien, as the IRS sent it to the wrong address, and I never received it. Along with my [redacted] tax return, I intend to use the refund to offset the lien of approximately $4,[redacted]. I have more refunds from previous years to apply once I file those returns. I need to identify a contact person from the collection department to ensure my returns are processed correctly. I hope to work with someone who can help me reduce my debt. Due to long wait times on calls, I prefer to be contacted by phone at [redacted] or via email at [redacted] My address for correspondence is P.O. Box [redacted], Sorrento, LA [redacted]. The tax returns are filed under Ray R. Painter, Jr ([redacted]) and Geraldine Painter ([redacted]).

Dear Concerned Individual, I am reaching out about a matter mentioned in a prior message related to Daniel J Madigan and his Social Security number ending in [redacted]. I am in the process of selling my house and require documentation from the IRS confirming Daniel's release from a fraudulent scheme involving Carl Donavan. In [redacted], Daniel received a false tax bill indicating Carl Donavan's name. Daniel reported this to the police in Standish, MI, filed a report, which I, Sue Madigan, later provided to the IRS. Subsequently, the IRS confirmed Daniel's tax exemption. As we are unfamiliar with Carl Donavan and my late husband had been unable to file taxes since [redacted] due to health reasons, I kindly request a formal letter for the real estate transaction. Please send the correspondence to my email at [redacted] or fax it to [redacted] for processing by the State of MI to clear the lien on my property. Thank you, Sue E Madigan

In [redacted], I encountered an issue with my tax return when Oppenheimer failed to provide me with one [redacted] form that my accountant couldn't include. Despite my accountant sending an amended return to address this, I owed $[redacted] which I promptly paid. After speaking with you on the phone, my accountant submitted the necessary [redacted] form on the specific required document. However, upon receiving my tax return, I noticed that I was only reimbursed $28 out of the $[redacted], with the rest being retained along with the $[redacted]. It was brought to your attention that there were discrepancies in the [redacted] information provided by Oppenheimer, and this directly impacted the amount refunded. Given my fixed income and financial situation, I rely on this money to cover essential expenses. I urge you to review the calculations and process that led to this error, as I am in need of the remaining amount owed to me. Communication has been lacking since our last conversation in August, and I am eager to resolve this discrepancy promptly. This situation could have been avoided if the missing [redacted] form from Oppenheimer was included initially.

I was hired as an independent contractor for janitorial services at a college, despite having no prior business experience. I was paid like an employee, followed set work hours, had no control over my services, and used materials provided by the college. My work schedule was determined by the school, not by me. Lacking knowledge on how to run a business or fill out my own [redacted] form, I feel ill-equipped to be an independent contractor. It seems unfair that Maya Pony tried to save money by placing me in this situation, leading to loss of benefits and overtime. I am considering filing a complaint against my previous employer for putting me in this challenging position, as it has negatively affected me and my family.

I recently made two consecutive calls to your service and spoke with an agent named Carmen on both occasions. During the first call, she directed me to an automated system, and during the second call, she mentioned that my question would need to wait until January for a response due to a lack of available agents. When I inquired about speaking to a supervisor regarding the call center's operating hours, Carmen abruptly ended the call with a busy signal. I urge you to review the call recordings for verification. My name is Tamyra Fuller. I am seeking assistance with an inquiry regarding retirement distributions and whether taxes are paid upfront or at year-end as withholding if taken as income. I would appreciate a callback to discuss this matter further. You can reach me at [redacted]. Kindly leave a message with the best time to return your call and to speak with a different representative other than Carmen. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Joe Manchester, a retired educator from Long Island, NY, who recently purchased land in Canaan, NY. I'm contacting you to share that I hired Plumbing Today Inc for site work (excavation) on the property located at [redacted] Colane Rd East Chatham, NY. Unfortunately, Matthew Ward and Robert Dowd, after receiving a $29,[redacted] deposit, didn't complete the work satisfactorily and disappeared with the money. Home Advisor recommended them, not knowing about their history of scamming multiple homeowners. I plan to report their unethical practices to the IRS, as they are likely not reporting their income accurately. It's concerning to think they may continue to deceive others and evade financial responsibilities.

I have been employed at 'Advanced Tecks' for 2 months, working as a subcontractor for 'Suddenlink.' However, there have been ongoing issues with receiving my payment each week. Despite being assured that the problem would be resolved, I have not received any compensation for my work. As a result, I decided to discontinue my services to prompt the payment process. Unfortunately, 'Advanced Tecks' has continued to delay payment and avoid settling the outstanding balance by providing excuses. They have only issued a paycheck stub once during my time with them. Although they claim I am not on their tax payroll, my experience aligns more with that of an employee rather than an independent contractor. I am unsure of the steps I should take to address this issue and would appreciate any guidance on how to proceed.

I am seeking guidance on being uninsured for slightly over three months due to a job change and the enrollment not being available until April. We have been without insurance since September, and we are unsure how to proceed. Given our consistent payment for five years, is there a way to waive the fine? My husband cannot obtain insurance until April, and I am unable to do so until next November as I missed the enrollment period which was from November 1st to December 15th. We were not informed about this process as we have always had insurance coverage and are now seeking assistance to address this gap in our coverage. Thank you.

Our tax preparer requested an extension for our [redacted] taxes in April and subsequently e-filed them around October 15th. Unfortunately, she has been away for cancer treatment. I've been monitoring the IRS website, but it still shows that they have not processed our [redacted] taxes. I am concerned about this delay, especially since I don't have a copy of the documentation and am uncertain if we owe any taxes. Best, Barry and Brenda Samford

Hello, this is Wuinchelle Guerrier. I recently filed my [redacted] taxes as I was informed of a mistake in the initial filing process. I required an IRS transcript for financial aid purposes at school, but despite my requests, I never received it. Upon contacting the IRS, I was advised to refile my taxes, which I did about a month ago. However, I have yet to receive any updates on the status. Now, I have received a letter stating that I owe money from my [redacted] taxes. This situation implies a lack of belief in my employment and education status. I worked at 5 Star Laundry and attended Continental Academy online, paying a monthly fee of $40. I am confused as to why I am being asked for money back when all the details I provided were accurate. I am seeking clarification on this matter as it has left me perplexed.

My senior parents, including my blind mother, experienced the devastating loss of their home due to a fire. They believed their intern had filed for an extension, but unfortunately, it was not done. The paperwork in [redacted] was overwhelming, prompting the urgent need for a new accountant. My mother's health issues, including possible vision impairment and memory loss, add to the complexity. We have an important appointment in March and are hoping for an extension. Personally, I encountered similar challenges with tax filings but managed to handle the state taxes. The documents from [redacted] were lost in the fire, complicating matters. The attempt to contact you during a hurricane in Puerto Rico was unsuccessful. Amidst post-disaster struggles with insurance, housing, and relocation, managing tax obligations has become overwhelming. We are seeking an extension until the regular filing deadline due to lost records and challenges with previous tax preparers. Any extra time, even until March, would be greatly appreciated given the tumultuous circumstances. My mother, a diligent taxpayer, is facing significant hardships with her health and the recent house fire. Please consider our situation as we navigate these difficult times.

I am reaching out on behalf of my daughter, Tracy Wicker, who is currently in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation program lacking access to a computer. Her son Dakota Wicker, a junior at SUNY Fredonia, could jeopardize his second semester if we cannot retrieve information from Tracy's [redacted] tax return by January 15th, required before his January 19th return date. Tracy lost her home in [redacted] due to unpaid taxes during a tumultuous time battling addiction, casting uncertainty on whether she filed taxes that year as she hardly worked, if at all. This predicament affects Dakota's financial aid eligibility, notably his TAP assistance. Tracy struggles to recall which address she would have listed, possibly 75 East Street Honeyoye Falls, NY [redacted] (her former home) or P.O.Box [redacted] Lima, NY14580. Urgently seeking guidance to prevent Dakota from missing college, I am willing to assist Tracy in attending an IRS appointment if necessary. Thank you for any support in this time-sensitive matter.

I filed my taxes in February [redacted] and had to prove my identity, which I managed to do in June after visiting an office. In August, an advocate was assigned to me due to the Internal Revenue Service's failure to proceed after the identity verification. Despite numerous calls, I did not speak with my advocate until November or late October. He had my old address on file, even though I had updated it during the identity verification. He assured me that my tax return would be processed before Christmas and promised to call on November 16th, which did not happen. After further communication challenges and missed deadlines, there is still uncertainty about my tax return status. Despite efforts to contact the advocate's supervisor and address the issues, the process is unclear, and I await further guidance. Thank you, T. Valdivia.

Subject: Issue with IRS Refund - Urgent Hello, I filed my federal refund almost a year ago with my tax preparer, Chanel Williams, at [redacted] Warren Street in Dorchester. It was promised to take 21 days on the paperwork I received, but it has been close to a year without any refund. I am feeling frustrated and victimized by this situation, causing me both financial and emotional distress. I have even incurred transportation expenses of $6,[redacted] while attempting to resolve this matter, with limited success in meeting my tax preparer. After reaching out to the IRS multiple times over several months and speaking with numerous representatives, no resolution has been provided. I am in urgent need of assistance with this matter as I have explored all options to no avail. I hope to have this matter addressed promptly to alleviate the stress I am facing. Thank you, Joel

Subject: IRS Refund Concern for Supervisors and Chairs Greetings, I finalized my tax refund with my preparer, Chanel Williams, a year ago, but I am yet to receive my federal refund. Despite being told it would take 21 days, it has been almost a year. I have faced financial losses due to false information provided; I have spent around 6K in transportation costs visiting their office since May. Despite speaking to numerous IRS staff, including supervisors, I have not received a satisfactory response. This situation has caused me emotional distress. I have reached out to a lawyer to resolve this matter. I urge prompt action to address this issue. Thank you, Joel

Hello! I'm Shakira Morgan. In [redacted], my dad helped me file my taxes but we forgot to include a second W-2 form, resulting in an IRS bill. It was unintentional. Can I still submit the [redacted] W-2 along with my [redacted] one? I have the second W-2 in my possession. If not, what other options are available to me? Thank you.

I am uncertain if this is the appropriate place to report suspected fraud, but there seems to be an issue involving Brandy Ann Moriarty. She has allegedly claimed children she did not have in her care for the required amount of time. Previously, she claimed Toni and Bradley Thompson for about three months, and this year she intends to claim Jacob Carpenter, who has only been with her husband for 2 to 3 months in [redacted]. It is worth noting that anyone asserting to have cared for Jacob Carpenter in the last three years may not have met the residency requirements, as he has primarily lived with his grandparents since he was one year old.
