The visit started out very well. The server started out being very accommodating. I told him there was something I wanted to order IF we could make some changes to it. I wanted to order the new ROast Beast omelet but I can't do anything spicy so no peppers at all, and no jalapenos. He said no problem. When I received my meal there were definitely peppers and it was definitely spicy. My husband tried to call him over to the table and he saw him but turned around and walked off. I told him don't worry about I'll just eat my pancakes and whenever he comes back over I'll just figure it out then. He finally came back over and I told him what the problem was. He became very defensive and said he ordered it with no peppers and no jalapenos and I began to show him the little green specs and he turned around and yelled for a manager and said something about "the customer" and that's all I heard. The manager walked over and asked how she could help. We explained the situation to her. She said that she knew all about the order (almost makes it sounds problematic) and that she can remake it if necessary. I said no it's okay because if it could have been made that way the first time I would think it would have been since the order was put in that way. She began explaining again about the order. As a customer I don't really need to know this whole process and I must have had a weird look on my face because then she said something about she was just explaining the process and I didn't have to be rude. I didn't think I had been rude, infact I hadn't said anything I wasn't listening to her. At this point though I was furious and when I get mad I cry - not because I'm sad but because I'm upset. Well as soon as this happened my husband asked for the number for the corporate office which we never got and her name, which she did tell us was Tonya, and the servers name, which she never told us his name either. A few minutes later the girl at the register, not the manager, came over and told us that the manager wanted her to tell us that the whole meal was free. I said she certainly didn't have to do that I just wanted the roast beast omelet where it wasn't spicy and if they couldn't do that they should have said that in the beginning. I never saw the manager or server again after that. However, when we were leaving there was a massive accident outside the building and all of the servers and manager came outside to see it and left the customers inside eating and my son heard and saw our server point to my car and say is that the customer s who were complaining so much so they could get a free meal? Seriously? Why would he even say that? That whole crew needs to be revamped or retrained or something. That was the most ridiculous experience I have had in a restaurant in a long time and it's going to be quite some time before I venture into an Ihop again. Since the manager wouldn't give us corporates number I thought I would send a message here. After Ms. Tonya comped the whole meal, and she certainly didn't have to and I never asked her to even comp mine. I was actually going to leave itlone and until the little guy made the smart comment about are those the people trying to get the free meal.
