Thursday, February **. ******To: Huntington National Bank*From: Amy Kiefer*Re: Accounts - Theodore & Amy Kiefer Acct ***** Debit Card ******Amy Kiefer Acct ***** Debit Card ******Alissa & Amy Kiefer Acct ***** Debit Card *******As of right now, these accts are frozen with no online or atm access. I have been told the accts are locked due to a review regarding our deposit history. I was completely lost, but I was getting ready to have minor surgery, and decided to worry about this after. It actually was quite minor, so here I am. I have found it's easiest to write out the facts of a situation in full, so that whomever receives this has everything they need to assess the situation, and either remedy it or forward it to the person who can.**When I first was told our accts were locked over chat, after giving up sitting on hold, I was blindsided. Our deposits are mainly direct deposits from employers, with a few exceptions. Just your basic family checking transactions. The person I chatted with did say we could access our money from any of our accts at our local branch, but didn't seem too confident on that. I got the distinct feeling they were really trying to wrap up the chat. I was also told calling would not make a difference. As I said, I was getting ready to have surgery that I wasn't so sure would be minor, and just hoped we'd be able to access our money, though it would be inconvenient.**When I received my daily notices of acct balances this morning, something clicked with me when I saw it was $***.*** overdrawn. When I had been waiting for a $*** check from my daughter to finally clear. After talking with her, we determined that she wrote the check on her closed acct, not her credit union acct. This had happened once before, and I thought she had destroyed the old checks. They had the same background as her credit union acct. She obviously really liked it. Apparently, she missed a book and didn't notice. That has since been rectified! It was later in the evening when I remembered to deposit the check. I just wanted to get it in before my surgery. I didn't give it a second thought or look closely obviously.**After reading that daughter the riot act, I racked my brain for a reason for such drastic action over one deposit. If you look back through our main accout (*****), you will see that up until late last year, we have always had a decent amount in our acct with only the occasional slip up. Unfortunately, we had some emergency expenses that drained us, and we've just been struggling to get back to good ever since. I thought we were just about there with a large bonus check coming next Friday and a $**,*** check due any day now for a remodeling project. **Eventually, I remembered that around the same time, our other daughter who is away at school needed to pay for some fees for a study abroad program before she got her scholarship refund. She took out some personal loans in our name, with our consent, with the understanding she would pay them off when she received her refund, which she did. We paid the initial installment payments while waiting on her refund, but some of them continued to attempt withdrawals after she'd paid them in full directly. We recently mailed each of these companies a certified letter showing proof of payment, and demanding any fees associated with them continuing to attempt to take payments from our acct. They have all been received, so I'm assuming these attempts will stop. As I'm writing this. I realized that the transferring of funds I had done to prevent them from robbing us blind might also raise questions. All of these withdrawals and transfers caused a bunch of confusion, and our normal bills were being returned, and we were racking up fees with both them and Huntington. We are just now finally getting all of that back on track. **We're not perfect and occasionally things have slipped by us, but this is not how we normally manage our money. It all just spiraled out of control. We kept thinking we were good, and then something else would crop up. Now with this hold situation, just when we are expecting my husband's big annual bonus next Friday, our tax refunds and a $**,**** check any day now for our bathroom remodel, we are freaking out just a bit! **I had considered changing banks, but Huntington is so darn convenient for all of us, and switching banks is a nightmare, especially for an entire family. Once we got all this squared away, I was planning to add my yougest daughter to the ***** acct, since I originally opened it for her to receive her paychecks by direct deposit without it getting mixed in with ours. Incidentally, she gets paid tomorrow. I'm also going to need to open an acct for my son who starts his first job next month. We have paid a ton of fees to Huntington over this whole mess, so we're obviously a profitable bunch! I'm terified our accts will be locked for the next month or worse yet, be closed with no access to our money. We are obviously in a precarious situation at the moment, and can't afford to wait weeks or months for access.**I will ask that my yet another daughter(I have *) has her account unlocked and debit card restored (acct ***** debit card *****), as this has nothing to do with her. I am only a party to that acct so I can transfer her money when she needs it. As far as I am aware, since I am unable to see information about any of our accts, there has been no odd activity on that acct other than way too many frivolous purchases. She does work two jobs, so she has deposits from two employers. One paid her today, and another will tomorrow. Since I am obviously in a pickle, she needs access to that money so she can repay me all the money I've lent her in the last couple weeks. If necessarhy, I will take my name off of this acct.**I didn't really realize how bad this all looks till I wrote this basically long list of excuses. Sadly it's the truth, and I'm willing to lay it all out regardless of how embarrassing it is, because we desperately need access to our money. Hopefully you can relate, and help us resolve our situation quickly.**Thank you for your attention. I look forward to a resolution, but if you need to contact me, I can be reached by email (*****@***.com), text or by phone at ***- ***- ****
