I deposited a check on Saturday October *, **** that I received as a beneficiary of my sisters death and insurance policy. I was told there would be a * day hold and cash would be available on Tuesday October *, ****. I did not take any cash out. I go to the bank today October **, **** and I am told an extra hold was put on the check until October **, **** but the teller could not tell me why. I spoke to the branch manager she told me it was suspicious activity, I asked what the activity was she said she could not tell me. I asked for her boss she told me she could not tell me that information. I asked if they considered it suspicious because I was young and black and she said no they don't discriminate. However, the additional hold was not on my account yesterday when I checked by phone. But it was today when I walked in the branch . My name is Cameria White, my sister passed in September and left me as beneficiary on her insurance. It's only a $*,*** check. She was an employee of Franklin County and the her life insurance policy was through her employer. I can understand a three or five day hold but ten days is ridiculous. When I am able to get my money I will be withdrawing every dime and closing my account. I will be opening a new account with another bank. Contrary to your bank there are others who know Black people do have life insurance policies and we do try to leave our family members a legacy. This complaint is regarding the E. Main St Columbus Ohio Branch near Bexley * Eastmoor
