have store credit on * different cards* * from returning fence supplies with my wife that took us * trips, and one last summer. Now, each card is valid and includes the receipt given with the card on date issued. The total value of these "store-credit" cards easily covers the amount required to purchase the generator with enough left over for incidentals. While ringing up my order, the cashier stated that id need the i.d. of my wife, mine and whoever had been the one who returned the item earlier this summer if i was to use "MY" store credit. This is ludicrous. To have to keep track of such an inane policy is an incredibly frustrating position to be put into. I heard a man who was unable to buy lumber because his boss who had originally received the store credit was at the jobsite, too busy to be running errands, which is why hed sent his employee. This whole scenario made me feel like an idiot in front of these people and the counterstaff dismissed my frustration by passing me off to some phone number to an answering service with even less information than the cashier. So, unable to get a reason or satisfaction, I was forced to walk away from a ***$ purchase after taking a ferry over and spending at least an hour shopping around your store. * So i looked up your policy online and for any visual signs on return policies in store by the cashier and return desk and found no evidence that supports the cashiers claim i needed to supply an i.d. and no infromation online that supported it either. It is outrageous how little concern for my wasted time was shown and how little effort was made into making it right. It is little wonder that Lowes has had a resurgence in business. From the talk I hear from my contractor peers to he general customer, it doesnt seem, its obvious how little time and thought has gone into customer service. I have gone over Reddit post by home depot employees and the way that they respond to a customer voicing his frustration online is appalling. It seems that customers were ** on the "satisfy" list until Home depot became a massive money printing machine and then the credo that the customer comes first made as if it never existed in the first place. Whatever, Im not getting into a manifesto mindset but i want to say I am following this as far up as i can kick it and I will get an answer from someone who can explain to me how they will make this situation MAKE SENSE. Since there is no policy i can find that REQUIRES original ID to use store credit, I will continue to ask every manager in every store I come across until one of them makes the attempt at reason. Pardon the diatribe but i vcannot reasonably explain the frustration and strife that day became after the unprofessional response we were given by the management at home depot. I look forward to your attempt to make this right . I will add that I belong to a close knit association of island contractors and this Home Depot issue has been a deciding factor for many to begin giving there business to Lowes or McClendons, anywhere they can still be taken seriously. I will be by tomorrow to purchase aforementioned generator and secure its delivery to Arizona. If faced with the same scenario, i will contact Brooke Ulrich or Haydn Chilcott and we can conference any issues. I will not be extorted and not allowed to use what is rightfully mine.
