To whom it may concern:**I would like to be in contact with someone in Hearst Magazines concerning the use of a poem published in Good Housekeeping Magazine back around **** or possibly ****. The poem, entitled "First Born," was a sonnet written by my father, Charles Gordon Rex, who was a poet and composer. The poem in question was written on the occasion of my own birth ** years ago. Our family is putting together a collection of roughly *** of my father's best poems for publication by a small publishing company, this in the hope of keeping the work of my father alive for future generations of the Rex family. Obviously this is not some huge money-making proposition, but it would mean a great deal to our family sentimentally to have such a collection of my father's work in print. My father unfortunately rarely bothered to publish his poetry. Even his music was composed on an "as needed" basis for performance, and after that, he rarely saw to its publication. Thus it was actually my mother who sent this particular poem into Good Housekeeping Magazine because she loved it so. Both my father and mother are no longer with us, and thus we would like permission to include this sonnet, "First Born," in the proposed collection. We would be very happy to add a notation that the poem is being printed courtesy of Hearst Magazines. I would appreciate hearing from someone who is in charge of old copyright issues such as this. Thank you for your time and consideration.**Very truly yours,*Charles Rex (Jr.)*Email: *****@***.com*Phone: ***-***-****
