This pertains to the Flag Light I bought in a Home Depot. Here's what I did: I smoothed off a desk top and inventoried everything. Then, I exposed the solar panel to double quartz work lights for * the basement with the solar panel in the "off" position. Then, I put the light and solar unit on the pole. Note: the light works best if installed on a flag pole, not on a wooden column. The pole is a natural Place for the light. You want the light shining upward in line with the angle of the pole. That way, the light will naturally shine on the flag's folds. In fastening the light & panel, at first I tried the long bolts. They stuck out too far. You see, when you squeeze the clamps together, there is ample space to use the shorter bolts. Frankly, it looks a lot neater if you use the shorter bolts. Also, be sure to insert the bolt on the bracket with the indentation that is made to fit the bolt head. I left the switch in the "off" position and exposed the panel to full sun for ** hours. When dusk fell, I turned the switch to the "on" position. The light was super. Also, I found the best way to install the light is facing the flag about * inches below the bottom flag edge. Then, I positioned the solar panel downward as far as the attached cable would go. I positioned the panel to face the sun. I am lucky because my home faces full south. For about $** Hampton Bay provided everything you need in the Flag Light kit.. I hope I've helped some one else install their light.
