Hello, I need to update the tax office about my extended absence of almost 2.5 years, residing in Australia for 2 years. I have returned to England, resumed work, and received my initial payslip which already reflects tax deductions under tax code 1250L. However, considering I have been away for more than a year, I believe I should be tax-exempt for the first 6 months. Could you kindly adjust my tax code for the upcoming payslips? Thank you in advance.

I haven't received my P60 for the tax year 2[redacted] yet. This document is crucial for me to determine my Gross Earnings promptly. My daughter has applied for a Student Grant because she will be starting University in September. I need to provide proof of my lack of earnings due to being on long-term sick leave to support her application. The Student Finance has a deadline on Tuesday, prompting me to seek this information urgently. My delay in applying is due to the challenges posed by Covid-19, making it difficult to access online services due to high demand. Despite my attempts to log in, I've encountered issues and have been advised to reach out to you. I understand the current circumstances may have increased your workload, but I would sincerely appreciate any assistance you can provide promptly. Thank you. Dionne Darbyshire

Due to the Covid-19 situation, my landlord informed me that the property I'm renting must be vacated by May 2nd. I am currently furloughed with my 5-year-old son. Recently, I was notified that the landlord will return in early June, requiring us to leave by then. With limited options, I am considering moving to my mother's place, which is two hours away in Essex. However, this is not ideal due to her being a carer (Key worker) with reported Covid-19 cases at her residence. I secured new housing, but construction delays have postponed the move, leaving me anxious and seeking advice on the landlord's actions during this challenging time.

Hello, I submitted a P53 form for a refund following the cashing in of my personal pension. After a phone conversation, the forms were mailed to me. I completed the forms and sent them back along with the first two pages of the P45 from the pension company, all sent by first class mail in February. However, I have yet to receive a response or the requested refund. Can you kindly provide an update on the status of my request? Thank you. My national insurance number is YZ 85 95 41 B. Regards, M.H.

Good afternoon, I would like to discuss my child benefit situation. I left the UK in [redacted] and received a letter regarding the loss of child benefit. I did not receive any child benefit before leaving and do not understand why I continue to receive these letters. While in the UK, I did not speak English, and a man named Stanislav Dano assisted us with paperwork and had all our details. Please respond promptly if you need further information. Thank you. Thomas B.

Hello, I am a self-employed taxi driver facing challenges in submitting my documents due to office closures. Despite waiting for the office to reopen since April, my accounts remain unfiled. This delay is impacting my ability to access self-employed grants. I have a young family, including two kids – one aged 2 and the other 5, with one child suffering from asthma. I have been unable to work since mid-March, leading to no income. Transitioning from working tax credit to universal credit has further complicated my financial situation, with payment not expected until June. I am struggling to make ends meet, resorting to borrowing money from various sources, including family. Urgent assistance in resolving this issue or timely communication is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am attempting to verify my eligibility for the SE income grant. I possess my UTR, NIno, user ID, and password. Although HMRC already has my email addresses, home address, and mobile number, I am prompted to provide another way for them to contact me. Unfortunately, during the security questions, I am asked about possessing a current UK passport or photo ID driving licence, which I do not have. Instead, I have an Irish passport and an old non-photo driving licence. Subsequently, credit reference questions are posed, asking about details like the last time I opened a current account or a mobile phone contract. Not having this information readily available causes me to not pass the security check, leading to difficulty communicating with HMRC about my SE income grant.

I recently attempted to log in through the Gov Gateway to review my Self Assessment payment status. I am uneasy as the website requested an extensive amount of information, causing me to question its legitimacy. I am seeking confirmation that my 3 month payment, owed to me for the period since March, will not be misdirected. I fear I may have unknowingly disclosed sensitive details to a potential scammer, jeopardizing my payment. I urgently require assurance that my personal information remains secure. Kindly respond to me via phone call or email to address my concerns.

In mid-March [redacted], I sent a letter to HMRC at BX9 1AS as instructed by a previous phone call. I requested a refund of my personal pension payment relief for the past 4 years and included a confirmation letter of Annual Allowances from the Dept of Education, Teachers' Pensions Branch dated March 11, [redacted]. After speaking with the HMRC agent, they advised me to write to them and mentioned I would hear back within 5 working days. I have yet to receive any acknowledgment or response to my inquiry. Could you please give me an update on the status of my request?

I received a letter today (04/05/[redacted]) with payment reference: NA[redacted]19NH. I waited on the phone for nearly an hour, only to be put on hold by your representative and then disconnected. I am trying to determine the dates of the overpayments totaling £[redacted].32 to understand why I owe this amount. I need a breakdown of the payments. If this is correct, I will need assistance in arranging a payment plan as I cannot pay by the specified date of 13/06/[redacted] due to being on ESA. This situation is causing me significant anxiety. Please contact me urgently to discuss this matter. Sincerely, K. Bailey

Dear Sirs, I am writing to follow up on my previous inquiry from the 11th of March, regarding a potential tax exemption under section 406b of ITEPA [redacted] for termination payments related to injury or disability. As an employee of Panasonic UK who has been on long term sick leave since January [redacted] due to multiple back surgeries, I am currently considering an offer from Canada Life to buy me out of the insurance coverage I have been receiving. This offer amounts to £[redacted],[redacted] and could impact my financial planning significantly. I spoke with one of your technical specialists who indicated that I might be eligible to receive this payment tax-free. However, to make an informed decision, I am seeking written confirmation from HMRC before proceeding. I kindly ask for your prompt response to clarify my tax liability in this matter as it will greatly influence my future financial security. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Yours sincerely, Julian M. Ambrose

On 2/2/20, I contacted your customer service regarding a tax refund cheque I received after my father's passing in [redacted]. The cheque was misplaced until earlier this year when I reached out to request a replacement. Your representative assured me there wouldn't be an issue replacing it and forwarded the request to your accounts department. They mentioned I should expect the replacement cheque in 2-3 weeks. Due to traveling in February and falling ill with COVID-19 upon my return, I had forgotten about the cheque. Now, noticing it hasn't arrived, I'm curious about the delay. The original cheque, payable to Mrs. S. Morris, was for £[redacted].20, with reference number [redacted]/EZ48241, issued on 3/3/15. It was addressed to 19 New Quarr Rd, Treboeth, Swansea, where my father resided. His name was William L. Dickerson, with N.I. number LW097865D. I appreciate your assistance in resolving this matter promptly.

Tax Reference YP582081B I recently received a letter from you dated 30/04/[redacted] regarding my late tax return submission. The letter, dated 12/02/[redacted], notified me of a £[redacted] penalty and warned of an additional £10 daily penalty if my return wasn't submitted by 01/05. I appealed the penalty and requested an account code, which I was informed may take up to two weeks to receive. Due to the impact of the Coronavirus on mail services, there are significant delays. I realize the initial penalty was warranted, but I am concerned about further penalties due to the current postal situation. Without the account code, I am unable to submit my tax form online promptly, potentially leading to extended delays. Any assistance to expedite this process would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As a self-employed tiler/slater unable to work due to the pandemic, I registered to claim 80% of my earnings starting May 14th. However, having faced health challenges with knee and hip replacements since [redacted], I worry that using the last three years' earnings may not accurately reflect my current situation. Despite being eager to return to work after my surgeries, the virus has put a pause on my plans. I seek advice on whether HMRC could consider earnings from before [redacted] to provide a more accurate representation of my income. Your assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. - David B.

Hello, I am experiencing difficulty accessing the HMRC website due to a problem with the authentication app. Previously, I had no issues using it, but now the access code is not appearing when I try to log in. Despite reinstalling the app, the authentication process is not working, and the code is still not displaying. I would appreciate any assistance with resolving this matter. Thank you. Sincerely, Julia B.

I've been attempting to apply for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme without success. Despite being eligible, the system won't recognize me. I've tried creating a new account to no avail. I've lived in the UK for 10 years, though I don't possess a UK ID, passport, or driving license, and the gateway doesn't accept post office identification, only credit agency verification which isn't working. I'm diligently paying taxes, and with my job impacted by closures, I'm in a tough spot. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have taken over my boyfriend's gardening business books as he has been a sole trader since last June. Last year, he didn't make much due to purchasing tools and dealing with issues from his previous employer. This put him below the tax and National Insurance threshold. However, HMRC claims he owes money for National Insurance, but I understood that below the threshold it is a voluntary contribution. Can you provide guidance regarding this matter? Additionally, earlier this year, he took on a job at a call center for extra income where tax and National Insurance were deducted. Do we need to include this job in his self-assessment, considering that the head office handles tax matters? I have included it in his records but unsure if it should be on the self-assessment form. Your help in clarifying these queries would be much appreciated as I aim to ensure accuracy in managing his finances.

I am currently furloughed, and my employer has not paid me my wages from April despite the government portals being open. Usually, I receive my pay on the 1st of each month. Although I got my March wage on April 29th, my employer mentioned that we would not receive April's wages until the end of May. I was under the impression they could claim for both months simultaneously, so I need clarification on this. Receiving only one month's pay to cover two has put me in a tough financial situation, and it feels like my employer is holding back my wages. Thank you. - R. Marland

I need help with a tax issue regarding two former employees. The ex-employee, Nicholas Richardson, had another employee's net wages appear on his tax account. Despite contacting HMRC and sending a letter, there has been no resolution since the employee left on 31.12.19. HMRC suggested completing a referral form, but now the ex-employee has been advised to request an earlier year update. Both SAGE and HMRC initially indicated that correcting the National Insurance number oversight would fix the problem, but it persists. I am reaching out for clarifications on the correct course of action to rectify this situation. The other employee involved is Michael Gibbs. Our PAYE reference number is [redacted]/EB06057, and the accounts office reference is [redacted]/PY[redacted]19. My name is Shirley Webb. Thank you for your assistance.
