Help with my HMRC issue
The issue in GetHuman4722303's own words
Hi **Please can you help, am self employed freelance graphic designer and I have a Contract creating adverts for a newspaper*for a client and she pays me each month for * days a month’s work - she runs her own newspaper works from home using freelancers*and does not pay business rates as she visits clients and is a limited company with earning above **K.**She rang me to say she will only pay me **% and I get the rest from the COVI-** Self employed scheme, this seems wrong*as that's like me getting in a gardener to do a days work and then just paying him **% and telling him to get rest from government.**This has put me in a difficult situation as I don't want to fall out with her and loose the businesss but I may have to because of principle of this situation.**But my last * years profits with the GOV. bases the payment on average profit and paid in June, this is my time as a cost from all my clients I do work for*and I get paid as you mention at **% of that average cost, what she is asking, means I pay out of my entitlement to myself her **%*so she can just pay me **% so I would still be doing myself out of my entitlement for her gain.**The government have designed the schemes so that the big businesses look after the smaller ones.**The problems within her business are nothing to do with me.**I have a contract that needs to be kept to, I do work for an agreed rate and she pays me.**Should I agree to her Idea that she pays me just **% and I use my entitlement of GOV to make up rest?**That would be OK if I just worked for her freelance ONLY but I dont - what she gives me each month is a small proportion of what I earn totally*which will be accounted for by the GOV when they work it out my payment under the COVID-** Scheme. (all my accounts TAX etc have been paid for last * years)**OR**Should I just Invoice her as normal and if she is not willing to pay - then I may loose contract.**Its just the way she has TWISTED this back to me.**Please help is she correct what she is asking or am I correct**I feel am being done out here**Many Thanks Mr J Parker
