I purchased two Groupons at The Secret Spa and Salon in Asheville, NC. One as a gift. When we arrived for our appointments, the place was very unprofessional, unsanitary, had a huge animal trap at the front door, had a dog in the premises running around wherever it wanted. There was only one "male" massage therapist there who was in grungy jeans with long greasy hair and no uniform. We were not informed we would have a male. I have NEVER been given a male therapist without asking if I was comfortable with it. When we spoke to the manager about it, she didn't apologize at all but said that she will start incorporating that policy because it makes sense. We wanted to reschedule, but she said they would charge us a cancellation fee. We were so uncomfortable with everything about the place, that we really didn't want to have anyone there working on us. She agreed that they would not charge our card if we called back to reschedule within a week. I truly believe that they would not pass a health and safety inspection and feel that we should be refunded our Groupons. One of them is within the three day full refund policy, the other is not, however, under these circumstances, it would be absurd to refuse us. No one should be lured into a place like that for "Spa" services. I would be scared of what I might catch. It did not seem as though they had any other clients to take care of as well.
