While I understand your policy of no refunds, I had already purchased tickets for the Amtrak. I had to escape a domestic violence situation with my * yr old son. I called and spoke with a gentleman and a supervisor (female), they showed no empathy towards my situation. **I left my home in vegas with only $*** to my name and barely had any money for food on our amtrak ride. While $*** may not seem a lot to you, it was something we needed to survive on. I paid $*** for amtrak and used those tickets only. I had never used amtrak or greyhound service before and was in a rush when purchasing the tickets, not realizing that the greyhound tickets were non-refundable, I went ahead and purchased amtrak tickets for $*** because it was * hours less in arrival time than the greyhound. At this time i was thinking of my son's comfort on this journey and thought that since I purchased for amtrak already, the chances of me getting a refund for greyhound would be higher. My experience left me so shocked because no matter how I pleaded and begged the answer was no. **I work in customer service myself and know that while we must try to reinforce company policy, there should always be an exception that can be made under extenuating circumstances. I have always put myself in the shoes of every customer who called in with this type of request. I have reached out to an advocate of The National Coalition Domestic Violence Association for a voice in this matter. What happened made me feel even worse and more hopeless than ever because i felt like no one cared. I just would like an exception to be made and the refund of $*** so that I can at least replace certain clothing items that I had to leave behind in order to leave as quickly as possible. I would really be forever thankful.
