The issue in GetHuman-nerlyne's own words
I have a Samsung chromebook and the QWERTYUIOP keys just stopped working so I couldn't log in since my password has those letters. I changed my password (for example to ABCD***), I tried logging into my LT but it would say password not verified. So i changed the password again to (for example KJH****) and it worked but then it said in order to unlock my local data i had to enter my old password so i entered the ABCD*** but it didn't work, i entered the original password and it still dont work. So i changed the password again to (for example MNBV****) so that when it asked for the old password i can enter ABCD*** but it didnt work. No matter what password i use, it won't let me unlock my local data files. I want to back up the files and reset the owner account to see if it fixes my keyboard problem before i sent it back to the manufacturer
