Get out of the truck ... Dear General Motors,*My family and I have been Chevy*GM fans forever. I just helped my son pick out a **** Chevy Silverado Extended cab *x* from a local used car dealer that appears to be in great shape and low mileage. He was so proud to be able to pay cash (**k) after being discharged with a TSGLI payout for a Traumatic Brain Injury incurred in the line of duty in the US Army.**A week later he calls me saying he can not get out of the truck because the driver side inside door handle won't open the door! I am really looking for any explanation as to how or why such an important safety feature like opening the door from the inside can break from normal use. He is now having to roll the window down to reach outside of the vehicle to open the drivers door. More than anything, this is a safety concern, and should never just break due to poor design of the linkage inside the door.**I would like this documented and would like a control number I can reference at a local dealer in Melbourne Florida to have this fixed without excessive shop charges.**Please help.**Richard Louizos**** W. This is a safety item, and should never break.
Would like GM to provide a control number on this issue for me so that when I go to the dealer for a repair, I am not unfairly charged for a repair that should have never been required.
Recognize the quality product GM makes. Have owned several GM trucks.
Watched a You Tube video on taking the door panel off.
