Yesterday, I called to update my old Garmin GPS. It had been updated a few months ago. On the chat like, the representative was very attentive and when she could not help further, she said she would transfer me to a technician that could help. She did not tell me that there would be a fee. The technician said my software system was obsolete and my GPS could not be updated without a software update. He was a very smooth, effective salesperson, and in one of my senior moments I had agreed to purchase the $***.** plan which I did not need. It took hours for the "update". I realized with the help of the kids, that I should ask for a refund. When ALex called this morning, he finally agreed that I could get a $***.** refund with a $**.*** being applied to a tech fee.*MY PROBLEM IS THAT I SHOLD HAE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE WAS A SERVICE FEE AND*OR AN UPDAGTE PURCHASE WHEN I WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE TECH. The way it was presented indicated that the teach was with Garmin. I realized later that he was not. I am disappointed in Garmin and plan to tell all of my friends to be VERY careful when they contact Garmin.

The chat line person referred me to a technician. She did not tell me there could be a charge for the technician. The technician was a smooth salesman and in one of my senior moments I had agreed to a $***.** charge. It took hours for the installation. It was something after some discussion with the technician, he finally agreed to refund $***, reserving $**.** for the Technicians services. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I WAS NOT TOLD IN THE BEGINNING THAT THERE WOULD OR MIGHT BE A SERVICE CHARGE. I thought this person was an Garmin staff person. I will tell my friends to pay attention if they contact Garmin.
