I have noticed several great cashiers leaving my local store due to the negative conduct of the store manager. Witnessing her being emotionally and verbally abusive to employees is concerning. As a customer with specific needs, I strive to treat the staff well and maintain a positive relationship with them. It's disheartening to see valued employees leave because of a difficult boss. These hardworking employees go above and beyond to assist myself and others. Learning that my favorite cashier has also left has pushed me to consider taking my business elsewhere due to the turnover caused by the manager's behavior. I adore Food Lion and my community, but supporting a store that allows this mistreatment is something I can't continue to do. The store is situated at [redacted] Airline Blvd, Portsmouth VA [redacted]. Sharing my observations as I doubt addressing them directly with the manager would yield any change. Thank you

Hello, I am Cherie Whitaker. I am reaching out regarding my daughter, Sidney Whitaker, who was in a car accident on June 8th. Unfortunately, the company she has been working for the past six years hasn't shown much support during this tough time. After her accident, she suffered a concussion, went back to work, and was put to work alone on a demanding task. Later, she had a seizure and spent four days in the hospital. The company has not reached out to offer assistance or support, which has been disheartening. Sidney, a dedicated employee, even worked multiple roles in the store and showed up whenever she was needed, working tirelessly through challenges like the hurricane last September. It's concerning to see the lack of care from a company that emphasizes community and family values. Sidney's store is located in Whiteville, North Carolina. I am considering further action as this situation is unfair and my daughter is anxious about job security.

I am Dejenara K., currently employed at the Dunn, NC store. On July 27th, an employee asked me to use my supervisor card for a transaction. The screen showed a discrepancy of $1.36, which I tried to rectify by involving my office manager. This led to an impatient customer being reimbursed. Later, I was confronted about the incident by my grocery manager Jonathan due to a complaint from an upset employee named Barry regarding his daughter's transaction. Despite the misunderstanding, I received an unfair write-up and was advised to apologize to Barry. Feeling mistreated and facing a hostile work environment, I expressed my intention to resign. I believe I don't deserve the punishment as I only inquired discreetly about the transaction. I hope my concerns are addressed fairly as I am committed to the company's values and mission. Thank you for your attention. Dejenara K. 07/27/[redacted]

My name is Paul Alexander from Seaford, DE. I have visited your website in search of a "compliment button" and believe it would be a valuable addition. I run a Food Bank through the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Seaford, Delaware for the past 15 years. We source food items like meat, produce, and canned goods from Food Lion and another local grocer. I wanted to acknowledge and commend several employees at the Seaford Food Lion who have consistently provided us with professional and exceptional service over the past 2 1/2 years. Their dedication has helped us feed thousands in our community. Despite challenges like sourcing Hams and Turkeys during the recent holiday season due to the pandemic, employees like Eric Paul and Manager Jerry have gone above and beyond to assist us in our purchases. Manager Josh Reid generously provided us with [redacted] Feed America donations to distribute to those in need during the holidays. We want to express our gratitude to these employees for their impactful work. I hope that GetHuman will deliver this message to the appropriate HR department at Food Lion. Paul Alexander

I received the [redacted] W-2 form from you, and it was indicated that it is inaccurate. You assured me a corrected one would be sent. It is April 11, just four days before my tax deadline, and I have not received it yet. Will you be sending it at all? It seems it will not be within the legally required timeframe. Have others experienced the same delay? Is your company still operational? I visited the Food Lion where I am employed and discussed the issue with the manager, who showed little concern and distanced herself from it. I expect you to fulfill your obligation promptly by sending the corrected W-2. As a consequence, Food Lion will lose my patronage, and I will share this experience with others. Sincerely, W. D. WEEKS, JR, Savannah, GA. P.S. Kindly review your records before requesting information from me again.

Every few days, I visit Hannaford's Modena to shop. Just two miles from my retirement park, it's convenient for me. My routine involves going to the Hannaford's service desk to withdraw cash from my H&R Block tax return card. I prefer this method over using the ATM due to the fees. However, today the manager, Marshall, informed me that they will no longer process my card and suggested I use the machine instead. I don't see the harm in continuing with my usual practice since I'm spending the money at the store.

To whom it may concern, My family and I have been loyal customers at your King, North Carolina store for over 30 years. During this time, I have always felt welcomed and received exceptional local hospitality until today. Unfortunately, a new cashier named Josie Sockwell, who has been working for around 7 to 8 months, decided to spread deceitful and disrespectful lies about me to a manager. The manager confronted me publicly with baseless accusations instead of addressing the issue privately or verifying the facts. This was distressing not just for me but also for another employee who overheard the conversation. My father, who visits your store regularly, now feels uneasy due to this incident. We have never encountered such unprofessional behavior from Food Lion employees before. We are concerned that this may happen again in the future. I urge your human resources department to handle this matter promptly and efficiently to maintain the reputation of your store. I sincerely hope that appropriate actions will be taken to address this situation. Thank you for addressing this issue promptly. I look forward to a resolution. Sincerely, Jason

I am Lily T., a 17-year-old high school student working at the Food Lion in Cramerton, North Carolina, located at [redacted] Market Street. Today, during my shift, a supervisor, Debbie, asked me to leave. After approximately 2 and a half hours, when the store was quiet, she noticed me checking my phone. Previously, I had only been reminded not to use my phone in front of customers, and other supervisors hadn't objected to a quick check while there were no customers around. Debbie instructed me to leave the store immediately, without considering if I had transportation and despite the rainy weather. I ended up waiting in the rain for 30 minutes as I didn't have a ride. This treatment of employees is unacceptable and shows a misuse of authority. Debbie's behavior has been a common concern among other cashiers as well.

I recently went to Food Lion at [redacted] NC Hwy 50 North in Garner, NC. I bought a box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and later found out that it was frozen and spoiled. When I contacted the manager, he was understanding and offered to replace it. This Sunday, when I tried to get the replacement, another manager was very rude and didn't believe me. She refused to help and accused me of lying. This experience of poor customer service over a small issue like a box of mac and cheese has left me disappointed. I will not be returning to that store. Thank you. - R. Wilbon

I used to work in the deli at store [redacted] on Hampton Highway in Yorktown, VA [redacted]. Around 12 weeks ago, I realized I was missing approximately 5 hours of pay. I reported this to my deli manager and store manager, who assured me they had fixed it. However, on the next paycheck, not only was the 5 hours still missing, but an additional 13 hours were also short. Over the following weeks, more hours were unaccounted for, totaling 31.25 hours owed to me. Despite providing evidence such as schedules, messages, and texts showing the hours I worked, the issue has not been resolved. On top of the pay problem, the work environment became uncomfortable due to inappropriate behavior from some coworkers. Feeling unable to continue working, I requested a transfer to the Virginia Beach Food Lion branch, but my requests were disregarded. I urge you to address this situation promptly, as I have been patient enough waiting for my rightful pay. My name is Victoria Rose. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I am owed 32.25 hours from the past 12 weeks, and I have already spoken with all the necessary parties about this issue. Despite addressing the matter, I have not received the owed payment, and there was supposed to be a transfer to the Virginia Beach store on Phoenix Drive. The Assistant Manager called our store and was promised the transfer, which has not been completed. As a result, I find myself out of work and still waiting on the owed money. My Immediate Supervisor, Amber, is fully informed about this situation, as she has asked me to come in early or on my days off to assist with overtime work, similar to what the Store Manager is aware of as well.

I work as an Assistant Manager in the deli at store [redacted] on Greenbrier Pkwy. My name is Rachel C. and unfortunately, my husband passed away 2 weeks ago. I was granted 5 days off, but returning to work has been extremely difficult as I am still processing my loss. Deli Manager Dawn M. is pressuring me to work without understanding my need for time to grieve and handle my husband's affairs. I have tried to communicate my situation to her, but she seems more focused on favoritism towards another employee, Jordan. I feel excluded and unsupported by Dawn, who is not considering my emotional state. Jordan, who is given preferential treatment, also gossips about Dawn when she is not around. I believe they are grooming Jordan for my position. I am seeking advice on how to transfer to another Food Lion location to escape this stressful situation.
