I need assistance with a return I made with the receipt for a faulty can opener. The employee I dealt with at the [redacted] Government St location in Baton Rouge, LA, named Jamie, was unhelpful and rude. Jamie refused to refund me, spoke on her personal phone during our interaction, and wouldn't provide the manager's name or the customer service number. I researched online and found the customer service number and the return policy, which were both on the package, but Jamie still declined to issue a refund. When I called back, she suggested contacting corporate and then hung up on me, avoiding further communication. I attempted to call back the next day, and Jamie hung up on me once more. Despite her claim to be a manager, her behavior was unacceptable, and I was left feeling mistreated. I now wonder if the employee was not following company policies or if I faced discrimination in this situation.

On October 7th, I visited Family Dollar Store # [redacted] and purchased a $8 umbrella. Unfortunately, the umbrella's closing mechanism did not work properly. Today, when I tried to return it, the store manager refused to process any return or exchange. Do Family Dollar products not come with warranties? What should I do and what solution do they have for me?

I would like to address the concerning situation at store number [redacted] in Moundville, AL. Over the past year, I have observed a decline in the store's condition. While a previous manager had made improvements, the store has now deteriorated. As a customer who uses mobility aids, navigating the aisles has become challenging due to cluttered stock and unopened boxes blocking the way. The lack of assistance from the staff and the overall debris in the parking lot further add to the safety concerns. Regrettably, I have had to limit my visits to the store out of fear of accidents. I hope this feedback helps in addressing these issues promptly. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I have been a long-time customer at the Family Dollar store in Shelbyville, MI. Recently, I went in while my brother's soon-to-be ex-wife was working. Despite not interacting with her, she confronted me aggressively, insisting I leave immediately. I felt humiliated and disrespected. When I addressed the issue with her manager, the response was dismissive. I have reached out multiple times through calls and emails but have not received a satisfactory resolution. Until this matter is appropriately addressed, I will not return to any Family Dollar store. It is important that customers are treated with respect and not subjected to personal conflicts in a professional environment.

Hello, I am Ramona Cespedes. I am the mother of an employee at the Family Dollar store located at [redacted] Dexter St. Pawtucket, RI. On Sunday, October 13, [redacted], during closing time, my son Manuel Lopez and another employee encountered an issue with the store lock and key which got stuck and wouldn’t turn. Despite their efforts with WD40, they couldn’t resolve it. When they contacted the manager for assistance, he responded negatively and refused to help, leaving them stranded past their shift. My husband and I went to the store to assist but also couldn’t fix the problem. I advised my son to call the manager again at 11:08, but the manager was disrespectful and even made threats. His behavior was unprofessional and unacceptable. I have a recording of the conversation if needed for verification. I am deeply disappointed by how the situation was handled.

Hello, I am Ramona Cespedes, the mother of a Family Dollar employee at [redacted] Dexter St. in Pawtucket, RI. On Sunday, October 13, [redacted], during closing time, my son Manuel Lopez and another employee had trouble with the store's lock and key. Despite trying WD40, the key remained stuck. When they reached out to the manager for help, he responded rudely, stating he wouldn't assist them. I arrived with my husband to help, but the issue persisted. When they called the manager again, he threatened them in a disrespectful manner, even after being told we were present. His threatening behavior and language are unacceptable for someone in his position. I have evidence of his threats and believe your company needs to address this issue promptly. The lack of support and the manager's behavior left us feeling disrespected and concerned. This situation reflects poorly on your customer service and HR practices. Action should be taken to prevent employees from being mistreated in the future.

Hello, my name is Ramona Cespedes. I am the mother of a Family Dollar employee located at [redacted] Dexter Street in Pawtucket, RI. On Sunday, October 13, [redacted], during closing time, my son Manuel Lopez and another young man encountered an issue with the store's lock and key. Despite attempts with WD40, the key became stuck and wouldn't turn. The other employee tried reaching out to the manager who responded rudely, claiming they should handle it themselves as grown men. As their shift ended at 10:30, they called me for help. Along with my husband, we also attempted to assist but couldn't resolve the problem. At 11:08, I advised my son to contact the manager again as they were still unable to close the store. The manager's disrespectful and menacing response was shocking. He made violent threats and used offensive language. His behavior towards the employees and myself was unacceptable. I have recordings of the conversation and would be willing to provide them if needed. It's concerning that someone in a position of authority within your company would behave in such a manner. Feel free to reach out to me.

A few years ago, I worked at Family Dollar in Indianapolis, IN, located at [redacted] E Washington St. Shortly after starting, the manager abruptly quit, and I was promoted to assistant manager. The new manager struggled with her responsibilities, often leaving me to handle most tasks, resulting in verbal abuse if I couldn't keep up. Despite reporting these issues to the general manager, I was asked to tough it out due to staffing needs. Eventually, unable to tolerate the daily mistreatment, I requested a transfer that was ignored, leading me to resign. Recently, when applying at another Family Dollar location, I was informed today that I am not eligible for rehire without a given reason or prior notice. This lack of transparency is concerning, considering my efforts to address the hostile work environment. I am writing to seek clarification on why I am being deemed ineligible for rehire post my experiences at the previous location. Thank you for your attention to this matter. - Frank W.

Thank you for your prompt attention. - Camille Schultz.

I'm Erin Hallahan, and I recently applied for a job at Family Dollar in East Providence, RI. The store manager, knowing me as a regular customer, is eager to hire me. However, there seems to be a hold on my name in the system dating back to [redacted] when I left another Family Dollar store in Warwick, RI for a different job opportunity. The system indicates I was fired, but I actually left on good terms due to the new job. This hold from the past is now hindering my current job application process. I kindly ask for assistance in removing this hold promptly so I can proceed with my employment at the East Providence branch. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I am addressing a matter concerning being ineligible for rehire. I was hired by Dollar Tree on 10/16/19 at the Mariner Square branch in Springhill, Florida. I left my previous job upon joining Dollar Tree on October 16, [redacted]. On October 18, [redacted], I phoned the store as directed. Julie mentioned that I couldn't be employed because Family Dollar had me marked as ineligible for rehire. Julie, the manager, advised me to contact Family Dollar to resolve this matter for the hiring process to proceed. I promptly made the call and held for 4 hours and 3 minutes without speaking to anyone before the call got disconnected at 4:30 pm. The following day, October 21, [redacted], I contacted Family Dollar again. I was employed there 35 years ago during a difficult domestic situation that prevented me from giving a 2-week notice due to safety concerns for myself and my son. Even though Dollar Tree did not exist then, they have now acquired Family Dollar. I have worked as a State Licensed Security officer for 20 years and also held part-time retail roles. I am requesting a second chance to change my rehire status to eligible. I am keen on joining Dollar Tree as an associate and believe I have the drive, creativity, and skills to contribute to its growth. Thank you, Cheryl G. [redacted].

I was in the Family Dollar store on West Broad Street in Columbus, Ohio on September 2nd, [redacted]. It was Labor Day. I witnessed a girl shoplifting as I entered. Despite confronting her, the store manager, Leroy, did not intervene, so I attempted to assist by stopping the thief. Unfortunately, in the process, I injured my shoulder and back, resulting in a fractured spine. I visited the hospital and filed a police report. Leroy expressed gratitude for my help and the police were involved. I am currently in great pain and seeking assistance with my injuries. I have reached out to an attorney and now contacting the store for further support. Please, urgently call me back at [redacted]. Thank you. - Lila Parker

I had a concerning experience at the Family Dollar Store located at [redacted] E Allegheny Ave #25, Philadelphia, PA [redacted]. On 10/20/[redacted], I went to the store for the first time in months and tried to use a Sundown manufacturer coupon from a Sunday newspaper insert. The manager on duty, "Des", refused to accept the coupon, accusing me of misusing coupons and returning items bought with coupons for different products. This felt discriminatory and unprofessional. The purpose of coupons is to boost sales, and customers should be able to use them as intended. I don't visit this store often, and I was treated unfairly over a small coupon and a $10 purchase. I felt embarrassed and discriminated against. "Des" had no valid reason to deny my purchase that evening. It was a disappointing experience.

I reside in Trenton, NJ, and have noticed severe cleanliness and organization issues at many Family Dollar stores in the area. However, the Family Dollar on Olden Ave. in Trenton/Ewing, NJ, is exceptionally appalling. The lack of shopping carts available for customers is frustrating, with employees neglecting to replace stolen carts. The store is poorly stocked, with products piled in boxes obstructing access to items on shelves. Outdated items, hazardous debris on the floor, and unprofessional behavior from staff members further contribute to the unacceptable shopping experience. The store's management and employees exhibit a lack of care and responsibility, necessitating immediate action to improve conditions or face consequences. The disparity in standards between stores in low-income communities and suburbs is concerning, highlighting the need for corporate intervention to address these issues promptly.

I was hired at Family Dollar in August [redacted], but encountered issues with the hiring process due to changing managers and miscommunication. Despite never being asked to submit a drug test, I received a letter mentioning a drug history concern, which I found confusing and unfair. The background check company, Sterling Talent Solutions, informed me that managers have the authority to rectify such issues easily. However, contacting corporate has been challenging as I have been given the runaround by store employees and cannot reach anyone higher up. I believe I have been discriminated against in this hiring process and have evidence to support my claims. I am simply looking to speak with someone who can help me address and resolve these issues promptly.

The manager was very disrespectful tonight, standing just 5 feet away from me and discussing me with another employee. I felt judged, so I decided to leave the store and no longer be a customer. It's unacceptable for staff to gossip about customers and other employees openly. This manager not only was rude to me and my kids, but also spoke ill of another employee in front of customers before. It's crucial for your company to have a policy against such behavior. This incident happened at the Franklin Turnpike location in Danville, Virginia [redacted]. I urge you to address this situation promptly and ensure your staff are more professional and courteous in the future. Life is too short to encounter such negativity.

Hello, my name is S. Ferrarini. I recently submitted an application to Family Dollar, following an application I submitted to Dollar Tree two years ago. After inquiring about the status of my application at Family Dollar, a manager expressed interest in having me join their team but mentioned an obstacle preventing them from proceeding. They indicated that they need clarification as it appears there may be a discrepancy since I never actually worked for Dollar Tree; I simply completed an application with them in [redacted].

I am extremely frustrated with this store app. I had to uninstall and reinstall it three times. My coupons are no longer working, and my spins are not being credited to my account. Now, it's telling me that my password is invalid, and despite numerous attempts to reset it, the new password is not being accepted. Dealing with this app has been a source of constant irritation, and I am considering shopping elsewhere. Dollar General is starting to seem like a better option. This app is extremely user-unfriendly, and I have never been this annoyed with any other app before.

Hello, I am Sirletha Ferrarini. I submitted an application at Family Dollar on [redacted] West Belmont in Chicago, Illinois. Now, due to this, I am facing eligibility issues to work at Family Dollar. I have been advised to reach out to human resources for assistance. Can someone please contact me regarding this matter? I have applied to Family Dollar multiple times, but I have not received any follow-up regarding my application status. Despite feeling qualified for the position, I keep getting requests through email and job websites to fill out more applications. I am unsure of the review process for applications and how the follow-up works. When I called the stores, they were not able to provide information on reaching the human resources department. Please reach out to me directly via email or phone at [redacted]. Thank you for your help.
