Recover my old account. ... When I opened my Facebook account years ago didn't have a cellphone. I guess I listed the home number I had at the time I didn't even know how to text at that time. My old laptop crashed and stopped using Facebook. Several years and cellphones and email accounts later I tried to recover it and could not. One day I found something I scribbled down in my toolbox that reminded me of what Yahoo account was connected to my Facebook account. I was able to recover the Yahoo account thought No problem now. I went to Face book login page entered Yahoo email selected forgot password then I was offered a choice send code by text I chose that first and there it was my father's old home number. Well since it was disconnected and a home * I then chose email me the code. They did I thought great I can get all the old friends info * pics. I entered the code it prompted me to change my password I did. Then I hit login It said for security confirm your identity. It offers to send text to the old number obviously that wouldn't work. It gives the option to upload a photo ID and change password so I do and it ask for a secure way to contact me by email I give them my Yahoo email. It tells once they confirm ID they will be back in touch until then I'm locked out. They log me out but for split second I saw my old profile pic.The next page that comes up says get Facebook for android app it works faster and says enter phone number or email. I'm thinking great they will have my cellphone number. I punch it in as I'm remembering it did say change password. It sends me a code to MY PHONE I change the password and It logs me in to someone else's account. Someone has my number on their account. I sent an e mail explanning all this and set back and waited. I hadn't used Yahoo in years so I didn't realize I didn't have notifications on. They sent a link to recover and by the time I read it it had expired. In the meantime my girlfriend put my number in on messenger and there it is again the same person that has my number. I can understand numbers change but that isn't it. I email Facebook again asking please send me another link. The next day with notifications on from Yahoo. I lose my phone at work while driving a golf cart. Unable to find. I go to Metro PCS* T-Mobile on lunch break to get new phone. The guy tells me the only way to keep my old number is to take new number and in * week *I can get my old number back. I haven't even thought about Facebook at this point so It was best to take the deal for my job. Well you guessed it recovery link expired. I wait a week until I get my number back and try Facebook again now it's a circle change pasword confirm ID we will be in touch. During all this I was logged into this other persons account a couple times I went to Facebook when I got my new phone and it automatically logged me into her account. I logged out uninstalled Facebook and started over. I gave the android app a try with MY CELLPHONE NUMBER it sent me a code to change password I did thinking it was my account and it logged me into her account again. I left a nice message trying to explain i did nothing malicious, didn't snoop around just asking please take my number off your account. I even told her the password I accidentally changed. The person will not remove my number. After uninstalling Facebook and disabling Facebook mgr and installer. I reinstall and try to log in and a message box pops up and says we think you are ---- the person who has my number with no option to answer. I left out countless e mails trying to explain. Facebook won't even Reply. On top of it all linked in sends me a message to join, someone on my old Facebook may have suggested it I don't know for sure but they have my old profile picture right there in the message. I don't even have that picture anymore. I really wanted to recover that account but today I opened a new one with MY CELLPHONE NUMBER maeby I'll try again surely they will figure out its MY CELLPHONE NUMBER. All I can figure is maeby one of those free wifi calling apps just gives out numbers without checking. How can they get codes on MY NUMBER? Well if you try to recover you're account and you're old home number is listed on you're account and someone else is using you're current number on their account and you lose you're phone and the Facebook link expires. I don't think possible..Facebook probably thinks I'm crazy, but they verified MY CELLPHONE NUMBER on my new account.
Someone has MY CELLPHONE NUMBER listed on their Facebook account and messenger account. And crazy things can happen to normal people.Who aren't very cellphone savy.
Letting me recover my old account. Take the old number off so I can get texts. Also make the person who has MY CELLPHONE NUMBER on their account remove it. Maeby having it on my new account will help someday.
Never had any issues mostly family and friends post.
Tried everything I could think of. Last thing was opening a new account to maeby help get my other one back. If not I'll slowly get along without the old pics etc.
