Reference:***VW Class Car through Expedia: Itinerary *************** Confirmation: ********US****Mercedes Class Car through Avis: Agreement **********)*On Saturday evening, July **, **** we (Jason & Don) called AVIS (Edinburgh airport) about ** pm (from ** Young St in Edinburgh) to let them know we could not pick up the car at the arranged pickup time on Sunday, July **th. AVIS (Airport counter) said they couldn't change the pickup day or time because it was booked through an Expedia-owned website. We (Jason & Don) then called Expedia in the US where your agent contacted AVIS at Edinburgh airport while putting us on hold and made arrangements for us to pick up the car on Monday night July **th. Your agent confirmed that everything was all set to pick up the car one day later.*When we arrived the evening of July **th to pick up the car, an automatic VW Golf or similar ($***.** prepaid through Expedia on Feb *th, Confirmation ********US*), AVIS had released the car and no longer had any autoshift cars available in that class. AVIS had only a Mercedes C Class automatic and demanded we pay a total weekly rental amount $***US dollars to get the auto shift Mercedes car. *We said no, that we reserved an auto shift car and should not have to pay a higher cost for the Mercedes autoshift. The Edinburgh airport AVIS agent then connected us (Megan & Don) to Expedia customer service on his phone where we explained the situation. Then the AVIS agent spoke directly with Expedia about the delay in our pickup time, but couldn't come to an agreement. We needed to have an auto shift and after * hours at the AVIS airport counter, about ** pm, we had to take the Mercedes car and pay the full amount of $***US dollars. Because I forgot to bring my Passport, Expedia sent an email to AVIS (airport counter) to request a change to allow Megan Klein to rent the car. Megan rented the car and was billed $***US dollars (agreement ********** through Avis) and the $***US prepaid rental (confirmation *********US* through Expedia) that I paid to Expedia was never refunded. Please check your Expedia phone records for the details of all the phone conversations on July **th and **th.***We are requesting a refund from Expedia for $***.** for the VW Autoshift that was prepaid and not available, and, additionally, a refund from Expedia or AVIS for $***USD, the difference between the amount billed, $***USD and the $***.**, since Expedia had an agreement with AVIS on July **th, which was not honored when we arrived at the Edinburgh airport AVIS counter.
