The issue in GetHuman-jesmcman's own words
I arrived at hotel manofa Amsterdam on the *nd July to find my room had been cancelled by yourselves, Expedia. The hotel informed me that my room was cancelled and I should have received a cancelllation email on the **th June. Instead I had only rceceived a confirmation email issuing me with information and direction on paying the €*** at check in with the hotel. This email dissipated all concerns I had about payment for the hotel not being taken - as stated in the email I was to pay directly at check in to the hotel. When at the hotel they informed me all payment must be upfront, however as I was never made aware of this I was simply following the information provided to my best ability. Luckily the hotel manofa had one room left available for that night, however I was forced to pay an alternative €*** in comparison to my original €*** through no fault of my own. I would understand my responsibilities in this matter if I had received said email of cancellation, which I did not at any point before my trip. **This was a very unpleasant experience that cost me a large amount of money and inconvenience. The room type caused distress as i was forced to settle for an alternative type to my original choice. While I appreciate problems occur this matter is not acceptable as I could have potentially been left with no place to stay in a foreign country, with no prior knowledge of any problems to occur. This also left me financially struggling throughout my trip and I would expect a reimbursement of the extra money I was forced to provide. (Original price €***, price of last available room €***). **This was a inexcusable, careless act from your company that impacted my whole trip. The stress, financial stress and inconvenience was simply a horrible experience. Your company essentially needs customers trust and to be reliable and in this instance was not, I was left in a very unpleasant situation. Please take the time to resolve this issue, I would expect to be refunded the extra cost of the new hotel room. I find your site incredibly useful and would find it a shame to have lost said trust indefinitely.
