EA sent me a suspicious activity email regarding my origin account. In the email it showed that someone had logged into my account from a different country. Not sure what country as it only gave the abbreviation “KW”. The email said that if this was not me to reset my password. So, I reset my password and I thought I would be ok because I had previously added the origin Authenticator to my account and linked it to my phone. Awhile after this happened I tried to play Apex Legends but was prompted with a message that said my account had been banned. I knew it had to be a mistake because I hadn’t played in a few weeks and so I relaunched the game only to be given the same message. I checked my email and there was an email from EA that said my Origin account had been banned from playing Apex Legends. What it exactly said was, “We noticed that your EA account broke EA’s gameplay rules.*Because your account was cheating, we’ve permanently blocked your access to Apex Legends’ online features.” Someone had previously logged on to my account from somewhere else in the world other than the “country*region” listed in the “about me” section on my account, which is the US. When notified about this log In to my account the email said that IF THIS WAS NOT ME to reset my password, which I did. Therefore stating this was not me. I contacted EA through it’s help section on its the EA website and created a case and went through the whole process of filling out a section like this one concerning my issue. I didn’t quite go this far into detail because I though given the log in from a different country and the fact whoever used my account probably had an ip that was not mine, it would be clear I wasn’t the one at fault. But all Ea did was send me an email back saying that my account was “actioned correctly”. Which I was surprised and disappointed by. I probably wouldn’t be going as far as to try and contact EA about it again but I spent money on this game to buy the battle pass and I had put my time and effort into this game which I really enjoy. To me it feels like EA is just dismissing my case without actually putting individual attention to my case. I’m simply not satisfied with the fact that I did nothing wrong, yet because my account was hacked and it was technically my account that got banned for cheating, I’m the one that has to suffer the consequences.
