Mom died ***. She had a package through AT&T for a local phone and DTV. I started trying to shut it off in late June with no success. **** I went to the AT&T store locally, was connected with one person who supposedly cut off the phone, and a person who said he had cancelled the DTV account, and gave me instructions on how to return the equipment. I did, ****. On ****, her checking account was drafted again for the full amount. I called AT&T and was told the phone was actually off and she would refund me for the erroneous billing. I then went through several people at DTV who variously told me that *) the account was canceled, but they didn't know why I was being billed *) I had been sent to the wrong department *) the account WASN'T canceled and they would keep billing me until I sent in a death certificate. Since none of the answers matched and no one had said the magic words "and we'll refund you the last bill since the account was stopped and we have the equipment", I tried going through the social media portal and was messaged that I had been told it was canceled, have a nice day. Well, that was ONE of the answers. But no one's said anything about why her account was billed again, or if it would be refunded, or what. Or do I really have to send in a death certificate. I don't want this to keep happening, and she's certainly not watching TV where she's at. Her account * was ********, Evelyn Brand, and I don't know her password since I can't ask her and it was her account.
