Last night upon arrival even though my wait in Atl for my connection was extensive one of my bags failed to arrive. When I filed the claim I explained that was leaving the next day and so if they couldn’t deliver it that night (last night) then not to bother. Just keep it at the ILM airport and it could return with me tomorrow (now today). The delta team member said for a diamond surely we can get it sent tonight. He confirmed it would arrive around ** pm but it would probably be between midnight and * am before delivery. The app indicated the same shortly thereafter. I assured the delta team member that I would instruct the hotel *.* miles away mind you) to wake me up. He said no problem. I reiterated if it couldn’t be delivered to hold it airport. File reference number is: ILMDL***** and bag claim number was **********. I received a text shortly after ** that the bag was arriving on ILM carousel. I went back to sleep. At *:** am I received one that delivery had it and would deliver. I tried delta baggage lost number and got typical “due to high call volume nobody available please call back”message. Efforts to reach delta at ILM failed. Interestingly the app blew up (and closed) at multiple attempts to track bag. I checked out of hotel after confirming no bag delivered. At **:** am was texted that delivery on the way. G r e a t. At the same time I received an email which included the drivers name and cell number. I called and he agreed to return it to delta at ILM. I arrived, checked in, rechecked bag that I never received and am now awaiting my departing flight. This is not the level of service I am accustomed to. I’d appreciate something other than an automated computer generated response. If delta would prefer I share this with others feel free to send me one. I don’t generally complain but this made my entire trip a complete waste of time unnecessarily. Delta could have just said “no, if you want it tonight come back and get it” and I would have.
