Today I had a very disappointing experience with a Costco employee, and was terribly dissatisfied with my Costco customer service experience. I asked both the cashier and the young man boxing if I could please have my products placed in a box. Instead he handled each of the objects in my cart, shoved the cart past me and tossed an empty box on top. I was surprised, And stated “could you please put my **** in a box. *I certainly could have articulated it better, but it was the fourth time I had asked for my cart full of small merchandise to be placed in boxes. Instead he turned and shouted “why you want to disrespect me?”*I am a **-year-old Jewish guy who lives in El Cerrito Hills and shops at Costco every ** days, my spending is about $*** every ** days. So I am in the store frequently, I have developed friendly relationships with numerous people in the store including the loss prevention guy, Fernando the manager, and others.*The guy started barking, and stormed off to get a manager, whom I interacted with pleasantly for several minutes. In the end, he had never put anything in boxes, and the manager had to call over a separate employee to simply box my merchandise – (which typically happens automatically each of the last ** times I have been in the store).*I feel it’s an example of extraordinarily poor customer service, poor training, and a complete lack of understanding that this young man’s job is to provide courteous and excellent customer service. I didn’t go to the grocery market bargain outlet, I came to Costco. At Costco I am typically provided excellent customer service, so this was an incredible disappointment, and I found his confrontational nature appalling. I’d love to hear from you about this.
