Hello I am a ConAgra Brands employee at the plant in Troy Ohio. Several of the other employees and I have been noticing that the management team have heavily been putting production over our safety specifically in the Packaging department in building *. **I will provide a list of situations I have personally witnessed Production being put over safety.**- Nearly all employees working the cutter position will agree that it is not safe to cut for two lines on one cutter station. I have personally went to the HR department and they agreed with me that it is not safe and shouldn’t be happening. I then asked the HR employee to tell the supervisor to do something about it. The HR employee told me “I’m not going to tell them how to do there job.” But still agreed with me. I then showed the HR employee someone that was working in this unafe position (Cutter running two lines on one cutter station) and pointed out all the things that were unsafe. The HR employee still completely agreed with me that it was unsafe but then told me if the employee gets hurt that it is “on them.” At the end of this situation the HR employee should have defused the incident and made sure that it doesn’t happen again. But the HR employee, supervisors, and leads continue to let it happen. It is a hazard that is overlooked. I personally don’t believe the hazard will be removed until someone becomes injured from it.**- Certain employees have complained about the Drake position and how they don’t feel safe being on it. Instead of taking into consideration that the employees feel unsafe and dizzy they continue to tell the employees to go to that position. When the employees go to the supervisor they are told to get a doctors note or go to a different position. Even when the employees do have doctor orderd notes they are still told to go o the situation. The supervisors should take any safety complaint as if it is serious rather than put employees in unafe positions. We are always told to fix safety hazards before they happen. But when we try to do this they do not take the matter serious.**- I have been in a situation this week where a lead told me to lift heavy objects that were well above my head. He was very rushing and not thinking of my safety. He was in a hurry to get the line running and was even rude to the employee I was working with.**- The most serious matter and one that is very overlooked is the Trolley Wash position. Where employees are required to bend over a basket and lift very heavy objects. The issue had even been brought to the attention of the safety team. The team studied the position ad determined that no one should be lifting anything out of the basket due to the awkward posture and the fact you are not able to lift with your legs and are required to lift with your back. They know it is unsafe and have even had an employee become extremely injured for almost a year. The employee still hasn’t returned to work. The hazard of this position still hasn’t even removed. It has been a know hazard for ** years and employees continue to get hurt. This position needs a complete re-evaluation **All of these situations are caused by the ConAgra Brands Troy Ohio management team putting production over safety. I have went to the supervisor and HR and told them that our safety is not coming first. They even know that I am right and doing the right thing but still refuse to put safety first. It’s as they are afraid to have production numbers look bad. It needs to be addressed and taken care of. Thank you.
