Top Tip from another customer
If you are currently under contract you will need to pay an Early Termination Fee. The best time to cancel is at the end of a billing cycle. The account holder needs to call in with all the information on the account.
The issue in GetHuman-fred_wei's own words
Cancelling Century Link because of ** years of noise issues etc. Gave up complaining long ago. Century Links local technicians and engineers have told upper management that ** year old underground lines in area are shot and need replacing, yet company refuses to spend anything on infrastructure. Instead they just spent billions to buy another telecom. Comcast ran miles of new underground cabling at no cost to us. CenturyLink was given plenty of opportunity to bring cabling and internet in to us and*or replace underground cabling etc. Can no longer justify paying CenturyLink. There are people in our subdivision whose land lines don't work well enough to use the phones, but cell reception is almost non-existent. On the promise of fiberoptic to every home, school, etc. CenturyLink's been given billions by the FCC & USDA to upgrade rural infrastructure & has spent much of it elsewhere.
GetHuman-fred_wei did not yet indicate what CenturyLink should do to make this right.
I have an issue with CenturyLink too
How GetHuman-fred_wei fixed the problem
If CenturyLink refuses to listen to their field techs and engineers advice about replacing worn out overhead or buried cables or replacing equipment contact your state attorney generals office consumer protection department. Some states like New York State also have a Public Services Commission. Once complaints are escallated to the AGs Office, the FCC etc things sometimes getr fixed.
