I am seeking information on buying a vehicle from an individual who mentioned using Carfax for the transaction. I received an email with a case ID from what appears to be Carfax, requiring me to load funds onto specific prepaid OneVanilla Visa cards for a 3-day approval process, followed by releasing the money to the seller upon vehicle acceptance. The email instructs me to not register the cards online and to provide all card details to Carfax via email. I am unsure if the provided phone number, [redacted], is genuinely Carfax. I am uncertain if this process is standard Carfax procedure or a potential scam. Any clarification from Carfax would be greatly appreciated as this is unfamiliar to me. Thank you for your attention.

In August [redacted], my wife and I purchased a vehicle from a car dealership in New Jersey. At the time of purchase, the car fax did not have any negative comments. However, upon attempting to sell the vehicle recently, we discovered that two months after buying and registering it, the car fax now states "Branded Title: Not Actual Mileage," reducing the value of the vehicle to -$[redacted] and making it unsellable. We are worried about when and by whom this change was made, and how it can be rectified.

Subject: Mileage Error on [redacted] Porsche Owned by Peter Scala Dear Carfax Team, I am Larry, assisting car dealerships in the United States with registration and titling matters. I am currently working on behalf of Peter Scala, the owner of a [redacted] Porsche. It has come to our attention that there was a significant error in the recorded mileage back in October [redacted]. An additional [redacted],[redacted] miles were mistakenly added, inaccurately reflecting the Porsche's true mileage in the 40,[redacted] range. Despite this error, subsequent readings over the past 19 years have consistently shown the correct mileage. I have verified with DMVs in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York that there are no records of mileage exceeding five digits for this vehicle. I kindly request that Carfax correct this glaring mistake promptly without imposing any additional charges on Peter Scala, who is also your customer. This error has had a significant impact on the perceived value of the car and has caused delays in the sale process. For further communication, you may reach me at [redacted] or via email at [redacted]. Your urgent attention to rectifying this error is greatly appreciated as we aim to resolve this issue swiftly due to the imminent sale of this rare and exotic vehicle. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Best regards, Larry Rubin

This has been ongoing for ten days, and I am unable to get a response from anyone. Vehicle Information: - Owner: Peter Scala - Make: [redacted] Porsche - VIN: WP 0ZZZ 93ZES [redacted] - Current Mileage: Approximately 40,[redacted] I am Larry, providing services for car dealerships in the U.S. regarding registration, titling, and DMV issues. There was an error in the Carfax history of Peter Scala's [redacted] Porsche. In Oct. [redacted], an additional [redacted],[redacted] miles were mistakenly added after a recorded mileage of 32,[redacted] from the Pennsylvania DMV. Subsequent readings for the next 19 years align correctly with the mileage, indicating a clear mistake. I have personally contacted the DMVs of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and none of their records show a mileage exceeding 5 digits. I have repair bills showing the accurate mileage progression as well. I urge Carfax to provide a corrected report at no cost to Peter Scala as he is your customer too. This error has significantly impacted the car's value and delayed its sale. I request a prompt correction to avoid further issues. Contact me at [redacted] or [redacted]. I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Thank you, Larry Rubin

Subject: Urgent Correction Needed on Carfax Report for [redacted] Porsche [redacted] Mileage Hello Carfax, I am Larry, a representative for car dealerships in the U.S., assisting Peter Scala in a matter involving his [redacted] Porsche [redacted]. There seems to be a glaring error in your report. In October [redacted], an additional [redacted],[redacted] miles were mistakenly added to the vehicle's mileage, with the correct reading documented at 32,[redacted] by the Pennsylvania DMV just two weeks earlier. Subsequent readings over the following 19 years align with the correct mileage, indicating a clear anomaly. Despite checking with the DMVs of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, no records show a mileage exceeding 5 digits. The Pennsylvania Title lists Scott A. Karkenny, while Peter Scala appears as the owner in the NYS DMV Database. I urge you to rectify this error promptly at no cost to Peter Scala, as it has significantly impacted the car's value and sale. Please contact me at [redacted] or via email at [redacted] for further assistance. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Warm regards, Larry Rubin

On my Carfax report for my vehicle, a [redacted] F250 with Vin - 1FT7W2B66BEA45783, it states there is an incorrect odometer reading. This was actually fixed by the MVA in September [redacted]. In [redacted], there was an error made by the MVA when my father passed away and my mother transferred the title to close his estate. They mistakenly recorded the mileage as [redacted],[redacted] miles instead of the actual 45,[redacted] miles. When I inherited the truck and transferred the title, the correct mileage was provided, leading to this issue. The Experian Auto Check Report from the state and the MVA now have the accurate mileage, as does my corrected title. I urgently need you to update your records as this mistake is affecting my ability to trade/sell my vehicle. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you, Stacey Seiss

According to my Carfax report, my car indicates it has had three owners. This is inaccurate as I am the second owner and have owned the vehicle for 1.5 years. I purchased the car in Farmington, Utah in March [redacted]. Approximately one year after buying it, I relocated to California for work purposes. The process of transferring my registration to California required a SMOG test, which I successfully completed on March 20, [redacted], at the Santa Clara DMV. Despite my efforts to contact Carfax for a correction, I have not received a response. The reference number for my email inquiries is #[redacted]3. I would appreciate any assistance in rectifying this error. Thank you.

I contacted CarFax yesterday regarding an issue with my car that I am looking to trade in. There was a minor accident with less than $[redacted] in cosmetic damage. However, CarFax reported it as structural damage, significantly reducing my trade-in value. The body shop confirmed the damage was only cosmetic with photos to support it. This error has impacted the trade-in value, so I am seeking clarification on how to correct it. If it cannot be rectified, I may consider legal action against CarFax or State Farm. I am eager for a prompt response. The vehicle in question is a [redacted] Honda Civic EX with VIN 19FXB2F89DE055847. Thank you, Jim Bradham Sales Manager W.S.O.P.

I ran a Carfax report to sell my car, and it wrongly states that my insurance company, USAA, reported it as totaled. The car only had minor bumper damage and was never close to being totaled. Despite reaching out to customer service via email, I received a request for the same information I already provided 10 days later. I've spoken to everyone involved, including Jeep and the body shop, and no one reported it as totaled. There is no police report to support this claim. I urgently need this false information corrected so I can proceed with selling the car. The slow responses and lack of a way to speak to someone directly is frustrating. Case #[redacted]9.

In [redacted], I purchased a new Ford Fusion, which I used until [redacted] when I sold it to my daughter. She recently bought a Honda and during the trade-in process, Honda found an error in the Carfax report. The report stated that the car was in an accident in Tennessee on 3/12/[redacted]. However, the car was never in Tennessee or in any accident. This inaccurate information led to a low trade-in value. I am concerned about the impact on my daughter's loss and I seek answers about how this error was reported and what Carfax can do to compensate for the loss of value. The VIN for the car is 3FAHP08169R161550. I have always trusted Carfax but this incident has made me question its accuracy. Thank you, Jim Bolognino.

The VIN is 3N1AB7AP3FY337265. I purchased a used [redacted] Nissan Sentra from Southern Pines Nissan on June 4th. I have a significant concern that I need to address. Initially, I suspect that the Carfax report may be incorrect, indicating that the car was possibly reconstructed or rebuilt. When I bought the car, I immediately noticed that the weatherstripping on the driver's side back door appeared to be cut and required repair. To my dismay, yesterday when I opened the rear passenger side door, the weatherstripping simply came off the door. This situation is unacceptable, and I urgently require a resolution. Furthermore, the trunk consistently opens while I am driving, posing a serious safety hazard that must be rectified promptly. Kindly reach out to me at [redacted] to assist in addressing these issues. - Sharon P.

I live in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and reached out to Discovery Ford in Virginia regarding a [redacted] Ford Ranger. Despite being assured that the truck had no rust, I discovered severe rust inside the vehicle after flying to Lynchburg to pick it up. My mechanic identified various issues such as a rotted floor where you can put your finger through, transmission slipping, engine light on, brake fluid leaking from the engine, and front-end problems. It appears the truck was a flood vehicle, possibly from Hurricane Sandy while owned by the state of NJ. The VIN number is 1FTZR15869PA48100. The truck remains in my driveway, insured but not registered. I kindly request your assistance in resolving this issue. Thank you.

My husband, A.M., went for the regular maintenance service on our Toyota Camry SE [redacted] this morning. When checking the VIN 4T1BE46K99U336841 on the CARFAX Vehicle History Report, we discovered it was listed as a Total Loss Vehicle in July 15, [redacted], due to an incident in Indiana. We are certain this is a mistake as our car has never been damaged, and we were both out of the country during that time. After contacting Geico insurance with policy number [redacted], they mentioned no such claim exists, advising us to reach out to CARFAX for correction. We seek assistance to rectify this error in the vehicle history report.

My case number is [redacted]1 and the analyst assigned is Shanice. I am encountering an issue with my truck, with VIN number 1FTFW1ET5CFC90044, which has a record of being serviced at Musser Tire and Auto in Tipp City, Ohio. Although the carfax report shows the vehicle was serviced there, the shop has no record of it. I purchased the vehicle and had it inspected at the DMV in Kentucky with 61,[redacted] miles on 5/12/[redacted]. Subsequently, the car was reported at Musser's on both 5/30/[redacted] with 98,[redacted] miles for maintenance and oil change, despite never being there again. This unresolved problem has been ongoing for a month. I am unsure how to address this issue. Can I rely on the accuracy of the rest of the carfax report if this information is incorrect? I am considering selling the vehicle, but the presence of these discrepancies is making potential buyers hesitant. How can I rectify these inconsistencies?

I own a [redacted] Infiniti QX60 with a Lemon history. When I purchased it, the mileage was 20,[redacted], and now it has over 89,[redacted] miles. Despite the Lemon history, the vehicle runs excellently without any issues. I believe it should be removed from the record as I have not experienced any problems, and the car is in excellent condition. I've had 25 years of driving experience with various vehicles and understand their mechanisms well. This Infiniti is smooth to drive, even better than my [redacted] Toyota Highlander and Cadillac Escalade. The Lemon history is only on paper and has not affected the car's performance. I hope this issue can be resolved. Thank you.

Hello, I purchased a car from a dealer a year ago. When we bought it, the Carfax report stated the car was accident-free. Last week, when we tried to trade it in, a new Carfax report showed damage to the rear and said there was a reported accident in 12/[redacted], which is a year after we bought it in 7/[redacted], and the accident actually occurred in [redacted]. The dealer mentioned it might be an error on Carfax's side. I am confused and concerned about this discrepancy, as I would not have bought the car if I knew it had a prior accident. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and provide clarification. Thank you and have a pleasant evening.

I purchased a vehicle from a dealer who claimed to be Carfax certified. Unfortunately, the car broke down the day after I drove it off the lot. Upon inspection by my mechanic, it was revealed that the car needed costly repairs that were not disclosed by the dealer. The dealer offered to cover the repair costs, but I opted for a full refund. However, the dealer is withholding a portion of the refund, citing expenses for taxes and registration. Despite considering legal action, I require the original listing from Carfax to proceed with my lawyer's advice. Is it possible to obtain a copy of the original listing for the vehicle in question?

I recently purchased a car from a Carfax certified dealership that supposedly had no accidents. However, upon closer inspection, I discovered that the bumper, back passenger panel, and back driver side panel have all been worked on and the paint appears to have been blended to conceal these repairs. This revelation came to light when I discovered a leak in the trunk during a hurricane. A professional at Macco described the repair work as "terrible" and "unacceptable." I am now facing the dilemma of buying a car with unreported accident damage and having to address the leak in the trunk as well as rectify the poor attempts to cover up the damages. I'm seeking advice on how to proceed with these issues.

Two nights ago, I tried to order a single Carfax report on the website. Initially, I selected one report and entered my details, but my Paypal payment was declined. I then successfully used a debit card but, upon going back, the site defaulted to purchasing 6 reports for $99 instead of the $39 charge for one. This led to an accidental purchase of 6 reports for $99. I reached out to Carfax via their website requesting a correction and refund, but I have only received an auto-response acknowledging my email.
