Help with my Canon.com issue

Connect camera to PC to download images. ... I have spoken with Canon twice ref *-*********** but have had no answer to the issue I have raised.*I have just bought a n EOS ****D and have been trying to get it to communicate with my PC running W*dows** to download images. I was advised to download the EOS Utility version * software ( Digital solution **.O.A.) which I have done but in the Start menu it still shows as version * with a version * readme only ?? Whatever I try the camera is not recognised by the computer and this is most frustrating as I have not encountered this problem before downloading from a digital camera. My serial no. is ************, please can you help? Many thanks, Mike.
I checked before I purchased that this particular model was capable of USB connection to PC and this model is identified in Canon software as compatible.
I would like to get the appropriate software to allow this process to work as it should.
This is my first Canon Digital camera having been recommended by friends. I did not expect such basic problems with software.
Tried downloading EOS Utility * then uninstalling and after being advised I have now tried **.O.A.
I have an issue with Canon.com too
