GetHuman-wayneels's customer service issue with California Franchise Tax Board from October 2020

Help me with my issue
The issue in GetHuman-wayneels's own words
After dropping my **** FTB tax return at the local post office I realized that I had made a mistake in using the tax rate schedule—I used the wrong line, so that instead of expecting a $**** refund, I actually owe $**! The problem is that I mailed the return to the wrong address (the one for expected refunds). I can send a corrected tax return with the required payment but to a different address. Will this create confusion, having two different tax returns with different amounts required? Or, should I do nothing and let the FTB correct the error and then contact me with the correct amount due? Thanks for the advice!

GetHuman-wayneels did not yet indicate what California Franchise Tax Board should do to make this right.

How GetHuman-wayneels fixed the problem
I called the local post office and explained the issue and they were able to retrieve the envelope. So now I can correct the computational error and send the return to the proper address (good thing I used an unusual envelope).
