The issue in GetHuman-olga_shp's own words
I booked an apartment in Sankt-Petersburg, Russia from *** to **** on February **th. **. The confirmation email clearly showed that I paid $***.**, but my credit card was charged $***.**. I have documents to confirm it. *I emailed with questions using the link on the reservation, but nobody could explain what happened.**. On Friday, March **th (** days prior the planned arrival!!) I asked to cancel the reservation because of the Coronavirus crisis. I obviously would not be able to leave the US on April *th, have a stop in Europe, Swiss and Germany, and arrive to Sankt-Petersburg since the quarantines, flight cancellations, etc. On March **th I received an email from booking.com which said that in case of the cancelation I would be charged a full price. During our email exchange I was told that there are still flight available from Europe to Moscow (!!), which makes my decision totally by my personal preferences and nothing else.
