I contacted the hotel I am staying at to cancel and they said I need to contact booking.com to confirm the cancellation

After waiting on hold for over ** minutes I finally was contacted to someone who helped fix the issue. Except she said she would call back to let me know and never did. I had to check my bank account and saw the money refunded. From the inconviences and double charging me you would think I would get a discounted rate for my next stay or even sympathy..Good to know for next time booking my stay at a hotel I will be booking elsewhere.
