Betsy Hesser**I was scammed when trying to cancel a subscription with the New York Times. Somehow (possibly through Pay Pal) I was directed to a phone number in which the person who answered said that I needed to verify my identity before they could teimburse me for the second subscription by buying an ITunes Card and giving them the number after you strip off the silver strip.**I had never used an ITunes card before so didn’t know that you should never give this code to someone you didn’t know.**When they told me that a $** dollar ITunes Card was not enough, but that I needed a $** card I began to get suspicious. When they told me that the code on the $** card didn’t work because I had bought a card labeled “commercial” I knew I had been scammed and broke off our communication.**I immediately called American Express to cancel the payment but they said they had to put in a claim before it could be resolved and would not cancel it at this time. I also called iTunes and found that the card had already been used.**I don’t know if you can do anything about this but I will give you two phone numbers if that would help.**Number used to call them: ***-***-******Number they used to call me: ***-***-****.**They now have my phone number. Should I be concerned about this?**Any help would be appreciated. I have learned my lesson.
