Five months ago I bought a Dell laptop from best Buy in Huntsville, AL and have had problems essentially from the first. I also bought the Geek Squad package along with the laptop. If you care to check, I have spent *-* hours every *-* weeks since I bought the computer (which everything was set up by Geek Squad both online and in store) trying to fix the problems which were many. When the online*on-phone Geek Squad wasn't able to fix the problems with the laptop for more than a week or two at a time, I drove an hour (each way, first to drop off and then to pick up) to take first the laptop and then the laptop and my printer (it was suggested that the problems with printing was the printer...it was not). Still the "fixes" wouldn't last more than a few weeks at most. Considering I bought a new laptop in order to NOT have these kinds of hassles and glitches, I spent literally hours of my time, my LIFE, either with the online*phone Geek Squad or traveling to and from the in store Geek Squad. Finally the online Geek Squad told me that I have had a defective laptop from the get go and needed to take it back for an exchange. I had all my paperwork, including original sales receipts for the laptop and extra memory and all the receipts from the many in-store Geek Squad appointments, yet the manager was surly and reminded me several times that he was exchanging this as a favor and that the policy of Best Buy was that he should have been sending the computer back to Dell. I asked to have the extra memory switched and my Microsoft Office Suite installed in the new laptop, but it couldn't be done while I waited because it will take too long...so I was faced with yet another hour trip up and hour trip back to pick up the laptop after the Microsoft and other software was installed. Today I received a call in the middle of the day saying, and I quote, "Mission accomplished* everything is done for your computer." I rush out after work, already exhausted but needing the computer and so going to make the trip anyway, to drive an hour to pick up my computer. I fight my way through traffic, which included an accident which delayed me ** minutes for my pick up appointment, only to be told that I will need to "wait for the next available appointment because it wasn't our fault that you were late for your appointment." So I wait. When it is finally my "new" appointment time, my laptop is brought out and I am told that the Geek Squad notes say that the Microsoft Office Suite hadn't been able to be installed. What!?! I was literally so angry that I was speechless because if I spoke I was going to end up screaming and crying and causing a scene in the store. I signed Geek Squad paperwork that I was NOT satisfied and left. I had to sit in the parking lot to calm down before I was safe to drive. I then attempted to call the store to talk to a manager (note: I used hands free devices to make these calls). I called multiple times and never got through to a person during the course of an hour drive home. The first time I waited ** plus minutes (I know because now that I am home I can see how long each call was). The next ** minutes. All the subsequent calls were between ** - ** minutes waiting for someone to pick up (and this isn't the first time I've tried calling the Geek Squad and couldn't get a person to pick up). *I want to know what Best Buy is going to do to make restitution for the amount of MY time your company has wasted.
