I called to verify stock on two open box dishwashers, as I needed one right away. I drove an hour to the store, approached a salesperson, and was pointed to the area where he said the open box dishwashers would be located while he played on his phone. When I found only one of the two dishwashers I had called to verify, I approached the man again, asking if the other dishwasher could be somewhere else. While continuing to slump in his chair and play on his phone, he reiterated that those were the only open box dishwashers they had, despite me telling he specifically what I was looking for. I went to customer service counter, explained my issue, and they found a different salesperson, who located the open box dishwasher I was looking for in a different location of the sales floor. I asked how I could know what was missing or wrong with the unit, and was shown a paper that said the only things wrong with it were that two mount screws and the manual were missing. I purchased the unit, along with a * year warranty, and it was packed up and loaded into my car for the * hour drive home. Upon getting home and trying to install, I found that the dishwasher requires a proprietary power cable and junction box that is supposed to be supplied with that model of dishwasher. I went to two Home Depot stores in my area, spending * *** hours trying to locate it that evening, with no luck. I called back to Best Buy, only to again talk to the misdirecting salesperson who had been playing on his phone earlier in the day. He initially told me that it was my fault because I was supposed to have purchased the installation kit that they had offered, and the part would have come in that. I explained that it was a proprietary part, not the standard dishwasher power cord, and he continued to state that I had to purchase it separately, and it was not something that the store carried. I asked if it was supposed to come with the unit, since it seemed necessary for it's operation, and he said "no, it's something you have to purchase separately." I said that I thought it seemed strange that it would be sold separately when it was a part specifically for that dishwasher brand, and he said "well some people get it with the dishwasher, but that one doesn't come with it, and all open box dishwashers are "as is" anyway." I explained that I had specifically asked to be informed of all missing parts of problems, and was told the only missing parts were two screws and the manual, and he said, "yeah, this part doesn't come with that dishwasher." When I told him I was beginning to get quite frustrated, he said in a very condescending and snide voice, "yes, I can tell." I asked for his manager, he put me on hold, and I waited for ** minutes between various people telling me that neither his department manager nor the store manager were available nor in the store (respectively) before the call was disconnected. Ultimately, I had to search out the part at a local appliance parts warehouse myself, spending another * hours of my time, after verifying with Bosch that a) the part was supposed to come with the dishwasher initially, and b) not using the part would void the warranty. The part cost me almost $**. The time spent was over * hours. The employee and his lies, rudeness, and spinning me in circles caused my blood pressure to spike more than other two things can even be valued at.
