I am a current empolyee at a B&N location, and I need to apply for medical leave ASAP. I have been diagnosed with a condition that doesn’t allow me to work properly, and I am currently trying to schedule surgery’s regarding this diagnoses. I would like to be able to contact HR directly so rumor of my sickness will not be spread around the staff and employees at my current store. I can fax or email any papers or documented that are needed to HR, I currently have papers on the diagnoses, possible dates for surgery, and notes from my doctor for the sick days I took leading up to this diagnoses last week. There has been people in a similar situation at my store and other stores, who were let go after they tried to explain the need for medical leave or future days off*tailoring a new schedule. I would prefer to go through HR so that I can keep the chatter about my illness to a minimum, and so that I can be treated fairly, and hopefully after I get through the surgery and post ops, if I am cleared then I would love to come back to the team. All of that with recovery time should be *-* weeks. It is quite an embarrassing situation, since I am fairly young, and many people haven’t respected me when letting them know about the seriousness of my disease, so I would like to cut out the middle man and try to keep my dignity and transfer whatever documents or proof needed.
