Help with my Avast! issue

I installed the free version of Avast. on my Mac. When I came to delete potential threat I was asked to install a Helper. My password was rejected as I seem to have had a previous account., possibly on a Windows PC. I am in a catch ** situation as I cannot recall this password and any I try are rejected. Without a password, no Helper: without a Helper no uninstallation. **I removed the .exe programme to Trash which of course I should not have done as it is still on my computer. Further complication.** I would like to uninstallALL the software so that I can *start afresh. I do NOT wish to patch up what I have already installed. **Are you able to help me, please?**Mary A. *UK
