As a UK citizen, I jointly sold a holiday home with my Australian daughter in April [redacted]. She is declaring her capital gain on her half share in her upcoming tax return. Her accountant suggested that I apply for an ATO TFN to pay my share. After extensive discussions with ATO staff on Monday and Tuesday, I realized the application form for individuals residing outside Australia does not address my specific situation in the "Reason for application" section. I am unsure how to report a one-time CGT event as a non-Australian taxpayer since the TFN application form requires selecting an option that does not apply to my case. Both the Australian accountant and my accountant are unable to assist further. I am seeking clarification on the correct procedure to follow in this scenario.

I purchased my rental property on May 2, [redacted]. Is there a formula available to calculate the depreciation on fixtures and fittings? Also, does depreciation apply to the house structure itself? Could you please provide me with a worksheet that would assist me in these calculations? My name is Christina D., and I can be reached at [redacted] Baldersleigh Road, Baldersleigh, [redacted]. Unfortunately, I am unable to download the worksheet as it is too small to read on my screen. Thank you.

Hello, I recently checked on my tax return and noticed that there is an ongoing issue with a debt showing up for the past few years. I have filed my taxes regularly, so I am confused about why there is a debt. I am looking for information on who the debt is owed to, as I want to address this matter and possibly dispute it. I feel frustrated about constantly dealing with this situation and want to put an end to it as I have no intention of paying for something I am not responsible for. Thank you.

Dear Concerned Team, I've been trying to contact your staff but have been unsuccessful. I have an issue related to my employment at Lessons PTY Ltd since March. Despite ongoing work, I haven't received my group certificate yet. My pay stubs show the correct address, however, all attempts to reach out to my employers have been unproductive. Moreover, my hours have been reduced, and messages regarding my group certificate and withheld commission have gone unanswered. I would appreciate any assistance or clarity on this matter. Thank you, Zak

Hello, I have applied for a TFN number as a non-resident and sent it through DHL to the Mooney Ponds Tax office in Victoria. It has been a month, and I have not received any updates. Unfortunately, I do not have a tracking number. The application was received by Mohammad K on 14 January. The DHL tracking number was [redacted]. My details are Gareth David Jones, born on 14/05/75, at 17 Shrewsbury Way, Cape Town, South Africa. Any help in tracking the progress or confirming the application is being processed would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As a United States citizen who worked as a surgical assistant in Australia from January 1 to June 30, [redacted], I recently obtained my Australian Tax File Number but realized I need to file taxes there. When trying to register online, I encounter error A932.02 stating my ineligibility to link the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to my myGov account due to insufficient information for identity verification. The website prompts me to call 13 28 61 and press 5 for assistance. However, being in the U.S., I am unsure how to make this call. I would appreciate guidance on how to proceed with filing my overdue tax return in Australia.

I am encountering challenges accessing my super through the ATO as I am unable to use myGov without a mobile phone for the app verification code. Despite attempts from a payphone, consistently connecting to a live chat representative through the website has proven futile. The automated responses from the system provide no assistance and end abruptly, leaving me frustrated. The lack of a simple solution for individuals like me who do not fit the standard criteria for assistance is disheartening. Requesting a more accessible means of communication, I prefer email due to being on a disability pension without the financial means to afford a phone. The current support system does not accommodate individuals in similar situations. Please urgently contact me by email at [redacted] as I seek direct human interaction to resolve this matter promptly. My name is Douglas Lawrence, and my Tax Number is [redacted] [redacted] [redacted]. Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I recently received an email from the ATO regarding unclaimed super. I want to transfer it to my E-Trade 401K, but I'm having trouble linking my new MyGov account to the ATO. I currently live in the USA and don't have an Australian phone number to complete the verification process. I'm also struggling to find a valid email address for the ATO online. Can someone provide me with a suitable email contact for assistance? International calls are costly, so email is the preferred method of communication. Thank you. Justin H.

Concerns about additional charges for greenkeeping services at the croquet club post-Covid-19 are surfacing. Before the pandemic, fees were paid to the registered club directly. Currently, each player is being asked to pay a $2 coin charge directly to the greenkeeper. This practice is a way to supplement the greenkeeper's reduced contract due to Covid-19 impacts. The club is extending this practice to bowls players as well, claiming it is for a one-hour 'practice' session. There are reservations about the legality of these cash payments concerning tax implications. The use of cash raises health and virus concerns, especially with recommendations favoring credit card payments for safety. There is a suggestion that normal fees could still be processed through official channels. Clarifications are needed regarding the legality and tax implications of this new payment system at the club. - Mary

Dear Sir/Madam, I recently received a phone call on my mobile in Noumea, New Caledonia. The caller, claiming to be from Centrelink, spoke broken English and mentioned an outstanding family benefit debt of $15,[redacted] from [redacted]. I explained that I am a retired individual. The caller warned of potential travel restrictions and freezing of my bank account, promising to send a detailed letter via post, which I have yet to receive a month later. This situation seems suspicious to me. Please contact me at your convenience via email. Thank you, Ms. Everest T.

I have been attempting to link the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to my myGov account, and the process has been quite frustrating. I lack the correct bank information, as I do not have an investment account, and Centerlink is not allowing me to access the payment summary. When I tried to obtain a linking code, after waiting for an hour, I was informed that I was contacting the wrong department and needed to call another number. After reaching out to that number, I was connected to the National Rugby League (NRL), which was unhelpful for my situation. I am hoping to receive a linking code for myself and my wife, as we both lack the necessary bank details to access the ATO. Additionally, we need assistance accessing my wife's inactive superannuation, which has been held by the ATO since [redacted]. This situation has left me feeling upset and confused due to conflicting information and rude interactions. All I seek is to access our inactive superannuation accounts. Thank you.

Hello, my name is Christine N. and my husband is Peter N. We recently paid off a capital gains tax bill in June [redacted], with monthly payments. However, before the account was closed by the Tax office, an additional payment was deducted, resulting in an overpayment. I have contacted the tax office twice about a refund we are owed, amounting to $[redacted].70 for Peter and $[redacted].01 for me, approximately 3 weeks ago. They assured me the refund would be processed within 7 days, but we have not yet received the money. This delay is frustrating, especially as we need the funds for medical bills. It has been challenging to reach them by phone. Please assist in resolving this matter promptly. Thank you.

Good morning, I am contacting you from Italy. Earlier this year, I invested some money with BINANFX, an Australian trading company. On 16/09/[redacted], the company approved my withdrawal of €56,[redacted]. They advised me to pay a 19% VAT of €10,[redacted]. I made the payments as instructed by 28/10/[redacted]. Despite being promised that the €56,[redacted] would be available in my account within 48 hours, I have not received anything so far. Could you please confirm if this company is regulated and why the funds have not been deposited yet? I have the invoices from ATO for the taxes I paid. I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Best regards.

I attempted to link my myGov account to the ATO services. Unfortunately, one of the two mandatory checks failed. It appears that the ATO does not have my correct bank account information, which prevented me from completing the process online. I visited Centerlink for assistance, but they were unable to help and advised me to contact the ATO. I have been attempting to reach them, but each time I call, they mention being busy and then disconnect the call. With no access to online services, lack of physical offices, and unresponsive phone lines, I feel like I have run out of options. This situation leaves me questioning the accessibility of democratic services.

I sent all necessary paperwork to the ATO P.O. Box [redacted] in Moonee Ponds VIC [redacted] on July 25, [redacted], via registered mail #RB[redacted]68US from [redacted] Harpst Street, Ann Arbor, Michigan. There is no USPS documentation of delivery after July 25th. These documents are crucial for locating my Tax File Number to access my super. I kindly request confirmation of receipt and processing. Thank you, Stephen D. Roland Lambert.
