I purchased a sectional not quite a year ago (October*November ****) from a local mom and pop furniture store in my hometown verses using a big city store mostly because they begged and price matched, Vicars Furniture in McAlester,Ok. It is an Ashley brand. I had researched and studied the piece for months. After about a month the largest of the three pieces started creeking. I had bought it first to check the color size, etc. so i was told when the other pieces can in and were delivered the guys would check it out and see what was up. That happened. “The guys” turned it over, sat on it noticed the sound agreed it was not normal something should be done, they would report back and someone, Chris Fields would be in touch. Crickets.... Months rock on. I call. No response. Go the store. He isn’t available, call and catch him on the phone , he is going to call me back because the section is no longer in production and they have no more in stock and he will get with the rep. At this time I tell him the other pieces are beginning to do the same and ask about clamps the hold the * pieces together to which he response, “huh! No Ashley doesn’t provide those on that piece.”*My daughter is a assistant customer service manager at Mathis Brothers in Oklahoma City, she is frustrated that I did not use them and tells me that Ashley has a * year warranty on their pieces structurally. Bam! Should no longer be an issue! So I contact Vicars Furniture back, get Chris in the phone tell him I am aware of Ashley’s * year warranty on their furniture for structure and frame and I want something done. He said OK let me get back to you. A week later he calls and said the piece is out of production the only thing he can do is for ME to bring the * pieces to a place they use and have a private place check it out and maybe rebrace it. I am fully aware one this is done it will void any and all manufacture warranty! I would like to have Ashley Furniture stand behind this product and replace it as it has now been inspect by both the people I purchased from as well as men from another furniture store they agree the piece are structurally defective. I have a family of * and we host guest often I do tell them the story of the Ashley product and the poor representation of Vicars furniture, however the furniture that I continue to look at is Ashley so depending how this is resolved will make the decision on how I continue business with Ashley. It will not be with Vicars and I have bought from them for ** years, when I worked in finance I financed many of their customers. I will not do business with or for them again.
