The issue in GetHuman-teeeach's own words
When I went to pick up my ticket at the station the clerk Sandra st the trans bay temporary terminal did not know how to help me. My ticket said that I owed $*** but Amtrak owed me $***. She tried calling someone but still didn’t know how to do her work so she told me to step out of line so she could help the person behind me. I questioned this because I’d already waited my turn for ** min and I had an appointment to go to. She yelled at me that the person behind me might have a bus to catch and that my trip didn’t start until the next day. I was horrified as I had planned properly so that I’d be ready in time and this act was destroying everything. I only had ** more minutes before I had to leave to my appointment and that ** minutes was getting spent on someone who was behind me in line. I still remain horrified that this woman thought she had a right to pick and choose who is in line and who she wanted to wait on based on her knowledge. If you have someone at the counter that doesn’t know their job shouldn’t you have two people at the counter? I came back two hours later and she yelled at me some more and she wouldn’t listen to anything I was trying to explain about my ticket and treated me as though I was the problem . Finally the head of customer care called me and not only did he tell me that she should have never done what she did, he straightened out the problem and told me to write to you and explain the problem. Lastly although I hate to bring racism into this But i thought I would just mention that the woman behind me in line and the woman at the counter were the same color and I am a different color. Just thought I’d mention that since people are treating people different all the time due to their color. I couldn’t figure out why she would kick me out of line and tell me that the woman behind me was more important because she might be leaving on the bus right away. I thought we get in line to earn our space in line. It sure didn’t feel like I was in the United States when that happened and Amtrak has always represented America to me.
