I am currently in Miami, FL. I came from a corporate conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico. My flight landed at MIA at *:**PM from San Juan. I was on a flight departing at *:**PM from MIA to my home at LAX. The agent at the counter told me my flight was overbooked and I was not able to board the flight. I was placed on standby for the next departing flight to LAX leaving at *:**PM. The agent at gate D** on **** at this time was very rude and unprofessional. I explained to him the situation and he told me "stop talking and take a seat he will call me when the flight is open for standby passengers" I did not end up getting on the flight at *:**PM. After this being the second flight I missed from MIA to LAX I approached the customer service counter and was told my standby status of priority was incorrectly added and I should of been on the *:**PM flight. Once I spoke with the agent who was somewhat rude but sort of helpful, she changed my status. She said that if I do not get on a flight tonight I would have to wait until *:**AM tomorrow morning. I asked would I be placed into a hotel for the inconvenience and she proceeded to tell me that American Airlines does not place passengers in hotels for them being late. I explained to her I landed at *:** I was not late for my original flight I was just overbooked she said that is impossible. *The experience I have had with American Airlines was very unprofessional, unorganized and not enjoyable. Every agent I spoke with at the MIA airport was rude, and would only communicate with each other in Spanish because I do not speak it. I am very unpleased with my experience and would like to be contacted ASAP in regard to this complaint. My mother was just diagnosed with stage * breast cancer, and I am trying to get home to her and my son.
