Made reservations twice with American because for some unknown reasons, both times my reservations were cancelled by some one. They cannot explain why the reservations were cancelled, but it was not because of anything on my end. Talked to PayPal twice and they authorized the transfer of money to AA, but again, American's system cancelled the flight. Maybe they wanted more money just to have the ability to choose a seat, (which I would not pay, I know every other airline is now doing the same, just to squeeze more money out of the passengers). I feel that is a real mistake, but greed comes at a high price, and now they do anything except provide any level of customer service. Not the way you build a business. I guess it is the only game in town, so they take advantage of that, and the **** with you the customer. Take money for just the ability to choose a seat, then charge more to select a seat, next it is pay for a fee if you need that mask if the plane would decompress. Next a fee to walk to the aisle and who know what is next? They do not care. Less seat space, less everything. Now I have to fight and spend more time trying to book another flight, this will be the third time, each time I received a acknowledgement, but again, the system cancelled the flight from CLT to DTW twice.
