Have a holiday!! ... I am writing to claim compensation for the following:**On September **th **** I was due to fly form London Heathrow to Vancouver Airport on a BA flight to meet up with my son and his two young children from whence we were to drive to Oregon to meet up with family. This did not happen as arranged and the consequences were as follows.****My flight BA**** was delayed by over an hour at Heathrow, for reasons I understand, and was late landing consequently I missed my connection to Dallas.***On the late arrival at Dallas I was given boarding passes to Calgary and Vancouver flying with American Airlines and West Jet.. ***At Calgary Airport I discovered that my bag for pick up and drop off was still at Dallas Airport having not been put on the plane. This having taken time to discover caused me to miss the last flight that evening to Vancouver. I was given a Property Irregularity Report form from WestJet and told I would receive $*** in my bank account to cover me in the short term. This has not happened. ***As it was so late I was unable to get an hotel and as a ** year old woman, travelling alone I had to spend the night in the airport with no access to any refreshments, just the clothes I was wearing and a small handbag. My medication, tablet and phone chargers were in my ’ lost’ bag as well as clothes, toiletries, presents etc I had no means of contacting anyone. I was extremely distressed and worried.***My son had booked a hotel for the * of us en route to Oregon. For this he was charged but had to abandon and book into a more expensive hotel at Vancouver Airport. He had driven from Nanaimo BC and was unable to get back to the Island that night.***He was able to track my flights but asked for me to be flown to Seattle as this would have expedited our journey to Oregon where we were being met by family members flying in from Newark, US. His request was refused.***We eventually met up at Vancouver Airport the morning of **th September*** I was contacted for instructions on exact delivery address for the recovered bag on **th but it was too late for me to take ownership as we were travelling to Oregon as explained, so my bag was delivered on our return to Nanaimo on Monday **th. It had been damaged in transit and had only been used twice before. It is useless and now has to be replaced.***I incurred extra costs for toiletries, clothes, cosmetics etc as well as my son having lost money on aborted hotel accommodation through no fault of his own.**I trust you will appreciate my experience over the * days was unacceptable and more should have been done to help me. I endured alone, a cold, sleepless and nervous night in an unknown airport, I was without my prescribed medication. I had no means of contacting anyone at home until my bag arrived. And I am left with a useless piece of luggage. **I would like to add that the members of staff of WestJet who helped me were professional and caring.**I do have the following documentation to support my claim:**Baggage tag,*Boarding passes*Photographs of damaged suit case*Receipts for some necessary purchases – I did not manage to retain all of them. I had to buy clothes*WestJet Irregularity Report*Hotel bills *Original booking information
The consequences as above
Compensating me financially for expenditure ie - hotel room, necessary products I had to buy, a new travel case*bag, overnight stay in airport and good will
Over ** years
I sent a letter by Royal Mail on October *th regarding the above to PO BOX *** Waterside, Harmondsworth, UB* *GB but have received no reply.
