The issue in GetHuman-kirstenl's own words
use the ** day free Kindle Unlimited service I was offered and perhaps subscribe to ongoing service after the initial trial. ... when the book said it was "acquired" but I could not access it because it said there was an error processing my payment method. I called customer service and the rep said to change my payment method which is valid and has used to charge thousands of dollars of purchases from Amazon. Then she said it was a computer error, and then my account was pending and I should just wait and call back in ** hours. I re-entered my payment information as well as other payment methods and they ALL came back with the same processing payment error and to re-enter a new payment method to use Kindle Unlimited.
The customer service rep did nothing to help me and just made excuses. I don't want Kindle Unlimted if it's going to be this much of a hassle to use and no one will assist me. I have been a loyal customer.
