Get my bags to my final destination ... Hello, on Friday August *rd I traveled to Athens Greece originally through Delta airlines but due to weather and flight delays my flight was changed to Alitalia flight ***. I had one bag checked with Delta so naturally that was my first concern when flights changed. As I checked in to my Alitalia flight a few hours later I made sure to ask about my bag and ensure it was being moved over to my new flight. I was ensured that it was switched and my bags would arrive in Greece with me. The women also mentioned she was unable to print my connecting flight boarding pass but just told me to print it when I get to Rome so I thought nothing of it. Upon arriving in Rome and attempting to print my boarding pass* I was informed that my connecting flight was never booked and I didn't have a seat on the plane. I spent the duration of my layover standing at the Alitalia counter while they told me they first had to contact Delta before booking me on the connecting flight. After two hours I was put on standby and after all that stress... did get a seat on a flight to Athens. I also asked the girls at the Alitalia counter in Rome (two different girls) if my bags were moved. I showed them all my paperwork and was ensured again that my bag was in route with me to Greece. I arrived in Greece at *:** pm Saturday, to find my bags were not there. I was forced to wait in the lost luggage line for close to two hours and missing the entire first day of activities with my guided tour I was scheduled to meet with earlier that day. Since lost luggage was unable to get ahold of anyone on your team, I had no idea as to where my luggage was or when*if it would arrive. I slept in the clothes on my back and had no toiletries. All night I was on hold with Alitalia until giving up TWO HOURS later. My tour director, two friends and man at the hotel also tried getting a hold of someone on your team and failed. Over the next three days, I was uncomfortable in a foreign country with none of my belongings. Most shops are closed Sundays so I had a very hard time finding somewhere to buy basic needs such as soaps, deoderant and underwear. I missed even more time of my tour trying to buy things I originally should have had. Sunday night, still hearing no word from anyone on your team or at the airport and leaving for a new island in the morning. I spent my night getting a taxi to the airport to personally find my bags. I got in contact with someone on the lost luggage team upon arriving at the airport* who was able to return my luggage to me on Monday August *th. However I had missed almost three days of my tour and spent money I wouldn't have if my luggage had arrived as planned. This money was spent on things such as* taxi's, clothes, toiletries. What I want from Alitalia is substantial compensation for my lost time, money and stress.
I spent money on taxis, And necessities that I need to be compensated for.
