This past Thursday I flew from Vancouver to Boston via Montreal. After taking off from YVR nearly two hours late, I barely arrived in Montreal in time to make our connection. I would have had time to make it, albeit just, except Air Canada was unaware of the whereabouts of my bag, whether it was on the plane that came from Vancouver, the plane going to Boston, or somewhere in the carousel system. Not knowing where our bags were, they did not let me go through customs and I missed my connection. The next flight I was rebooked on was over five hours later! When I finally did get on a connecting flight, we sat on the tarmac for nearly two more hours with mechanical issues, severe enough that we returned to gate and deplaned! I then sat in the airport for another hour after that not knowing when I would be on another plane. Air Canada then tried to rebook me on a flight at *, and the person I was flying with at *:**, which was absolutely unacceptable. We finally did arrive in Boston around *:** pm on Thursday, when we were supposed to have arrived at ** am! I missed the entire first day of a conference I flew across the continent for and an entire day in Boston. What was supposed to be * hours of travel time turned into almost **! The Customer Service employee in Montreal said that because of our experience she should have been more than happy to change our flight, but that she was only able to ** hours in advance. Myself and the person I travelled with are flying to Toronto and Ottawa respectively this afternoon, and we would like our flights changed to tomorrow.
