Help with my Aeroplan issue

Aeroplan's call center is closed now. We will send GetHuman-ldreossi a reminder to call them when they open. Nothing to do for now but wait!

My husband and I spent ***,*** points each for a flight to south America - Toronto-Newark, Newark-Buenos Aires return Montevideo-Panama-Toronto, leaving **th October **** and returning **th November. The flight to Newark was delayed and we sat on the tarmac for about an hour before takeoff. The United flight left Newark but had to return to New York after * hours because of some undisclosed problem. We arrived at the hotel at *.** a.m. and had to be at the airport by * a.m. on the **st for a day flight. We booked business class and spent our points in order to have the lie flat seats for the overnight flight - turned out to be a waste of our points. The food (I had braised ribs) was not good, mine was tough and stringy. The Polaris lounge in Newark was excellent but we did not have Polaris seats on the plane (must have been and old one) and the seats were not comfortable. We had planned to spend * whole days in Buenos Aires and ended up getting there a day late and also exhausted by the trip. The return flights on COPA were not good - we would not fly with this airline again. The seats were uncomfortable and the cabin extremely noisy. We had less than * hour to make our connection to Toronto and after walking a long way to Gate ** (shown on the boarding pass) we were advised the Gate had been changed and was now **. Extremely long walk. This should have been announced on the first flight so that we could have made our way directly to **. I could not pre-book our seats on these flights, their website would not forward me to the correct page and when we arrived in Montevideo were advised we were not sitting together. We have never had such bad experiences with flights and I'm now wondering how worthwhile it is to collect points if we are going to be "palmed off" onto airlines we really would prefer not to fly with. Is there anything Aeroplan can do to refund our points? Thank you, Louise Dreossi
