The issue in GetHuman-jqmich's own words
It is amazing to me that a company such as world-renowned AT&T doesn't have a better process for returning equipment. The tech replaced my Directv box and told me I would receive a "recovery kit" in the mail. Two weeks later I reported to customer service that I had not yet received and was told it was mailed out, should be arriving shortly. Two weeks later I reported to customer that I still did not receive recovery kit. I was told recovery kits are not mailed out, that I should bring old equipment to a UPS Store and they will pack and ship. The nearest is a ** minute drive from my home. Come on AT&T, you can do better than this, by better training your techs and customer service reps on processes. My solution - instead of putting the onus on your customer to return equipment to the proper department, have the tech take away the equipment and then follow an INTERNAL process designed to get it to the proper AT&T department.

GetHuman-jqmich did not yet indicate what AT&T should do to make this right.
