In July **** my internet bill changed from $**.** to **.**. I asked my wife to call AT&T for an explanation of the rise. I am hearing disabled and cannot use a phone myself, but was present at the call. On July **, at **:** am a person named Ginger answered the call. My wife explained the reason for calling.Ginger responded by promising that my bill would be $** indefinitely for now on because I have been a AT&T customer for years. She also promised, without being asked for, a new modem for free. My wife asked her again that none of this would cost us. Ginger repeated that all of it would be for free. On August **, I received an AT&T bill for $ ***.** and an ongoing bill for $ **.**. Firstly, I am on a fixed income and cannot afford **.** for internet service only. Secondly, I am not willing to give in to fraudulent billing practices by AT&T or their sales people. I have been a customer for many years and have paid my bills on time and in full. But this time AT&T overstepped the boundaries of decency and I am not willing to pay more than the $ **.**.I'd rather quit your company and will contest all charges in court. My account number is *********. You will be able to check the veracity of my request.
