Help with my AT&T issue

The issue in GetHuman-dudleydo's own words
Just using it! ... Many years ago I got a Go-Phone from AT&T. I set it up to pay $*** per year on auto-payment, which was fine for a long time with no issues. I don't like Cell Phones, so my phone was rarely used, but I had it if I needed it. Because I seldom used it, I accrued about $*** on it.*Note: A couple or so years ago I got an email from AT&T saying I had to replace my cell phone because my old one wasn't going to be any good anymore, so we got a new phone, went to the local AT&T store and had them get it all set up from my old phone.... so I know AT&T knows how to reach me by email and*or phone.*Last year (****) I went to use the phone and it said I didn't have any funds! ??? I'm thinking... WHAT?!!! So when I got home I called AT&T and they informed me that the payment wasn't made and I said that it was on Auto-Payment, so why wasn't it paid? Well, after some discussions, they reinstated my funds and extended my account for another year. I made SURE at that time that the auto-renewal was up-to-date so this problem wouldn't happen again.*Roll around to July *, ****. I checked my phone to be sure the batteries were charged (about the only time I turn it on). I needed my phone that day so wanted to be sure it was ready.*I got a message on the phone that said: "SIM not provisioned MM **". It also said on the screen "Emergency Calls Only". *So, I called for help. I guess no one nowadays knows what a Go-Phone is. I guess you now call it a prepaid (??). Anyway, I talked to a nice young lady who then switched me to her supervisor who then transferred me to the prepaid people... *I had a very difficult time understanding the man I was talking to. He kept giving me a story that I didn't make the last payment and they closed my account - taking my $***!!! Exuse me??!!!*I again explained that I had the account on Auto-Payment... if there was a problem why didn't they contact me? He said they send out TEXT messages ONLY. WHAT?!!! I don't text. I don't use the phone for heaven sakes! How else would I have $*** worth on it??? (I checked my phone and there were no messages on it.)*I told them I wanted my account re-established and I needed my phone that day! *After all the run around (he was a broken record), I demanded a supervisor.*I was talking to Reggie Ruscia - *RR***R in the Philipines at *:** PM PDT! He gave me the same run-around that the other guy did and told me that they had every right to take my money because I didn't make the renewal on time! They refused to get my account reactivated or to return my money!*AT&T is Stealing my money!!! One person told me that if I didn't use the phone once every ** days it would be cancelled!! WHAT?!!! I pay for it. I should be able to use it or NOT use it but know it's there when I DO need it. What's wrong with you people? I paid for my service... I had a balance of $*** and now I have nothing! WRONG!*After * hours or more of trying I was desperate and had to leave in ** minutes so I called to get more time put on my phone. *They informed me that they couldn't do that because the account had been CANCELLED... back in May!!! Oh good lord! I can't believe this!**So... I'm going to give this one last try to let AT&T FIX this problem, return my money to me and get my account reactivated. If not, I will be forced to contact the BBB, Attorney General's Office, Consumer Protections Agencies AND make sure this info is sent out to the Internet on how AT&T treats their long time customers.*QUIT sending Text messages to people like me who DO NOT TEXT! It was totally uncalled for... scam to take my money... and using their "text" messaging as an excuse!
I want my money back. I want my service restored. I want my auto-payment set up so if there is a problem they will email me or call me on my HOME phone. I DO NOT TEXT. I rarely use my phone. It's there for when I need it only!
Well...gee... I have been with Ma Bell since I was born in ****. I spent my life with them. When others offered a cheaper and as reliable service, I switched - altho reluctantly. When AT&T came out with the Go-Phones, I thought it was a great idea so I got one. Now I'm being scammed by AT&T for it.
I spent * hours * on the phone with your "customer support" people. The first ones were very kind and did what they could. The support Supervisor switched me to someone else, who was hard to understand. After some time I asked for a supervisor, which I spoke to and got the same song-and-dance story that they were legal in taking my money. I have sent his name, ID, etc in my original complaint. * I tried calling someone else and got a another customer support person and I asked right away for a supervisor. This lady was in Central America. After I explained everything to her, she gave me info that the others had not. *As I needed my phone that day, I had no choice but to add more time to my phone...but was told they couldn't because it had been cancelled... in MAY! All news to me! So now I have posted my complaint and hoping I do not have to take further steps to resolve the fact the AT&T has stolen my money... I have an auto-renewal account. This should not have happened!
